Around the NHL — Episode XLXVII

  • Xenforo Cloud has upgraded us to version 2.3.6. Please report any issues you experience.
Elias Petersessom is at the stage Dany Heatley was at here in Ottawa after he signed his big contract and out on a few pounds. The talent is there (not maxed out talent for lack of focus) but you’re left wondering when and if the personal pride and want to great will kick in or is this player happy to get their contract and fade away into the “what could of been club”

Wasted talent both of them, just don’t have the drive to be a franchise player. It was all About that max contract and cashing in

Rempe is a bum but he dunked on us with a nice goal in our last matchup.

If Ostapchuk took him on Zach woild still be in the NHL. Rempe Is Mostly useless but he wants to be a disrupter so he stays, Ostapchuk is not in the NHL because he refused to be a disrupter even though it was obvious to everyone that’s what Ottawa needed from him.

When that guy has your back you know you’ve taken the shit position! Lol

Some of you sound like teenage girls defending their favorite boyband. If I have taken the shit position, you know where it's directed at lmao!

Your leaf takes are fair but you do tend to have an irrational fear/attachment to the the Habs.

Not at all, my "takes" are going to be the same (mostly factual) for every single team in the league. I have very little biases, contrary to some of the ridiculous posters we find here. The only difference with Montreal for me is that they are my most DIRECT rival so obviously I don't want them to have more success than my favorite team. 2nd would be Toronto and 3rd would be Detroit because of the Wings homers I have encountered on HF.

That is why watching Dorion sabotage the Sens for a long time while they hired real management people was extremely annoying but I have absolutely no problem saying that their rebuild has been going much better than Ottawa, just another thing I was unfortunately right about.

The Habs are having more mediocre success after after 4 years than we did due to financial might but they are no closer to being a contender than we were in year 4.

The problem for Ottawa was not the first 4 rebuild years, we had the best future in the league after that 2020 draft. Dorion had already made huge mistakes but we would have been fine if didn't continue to create fiasco after fiasco while dilapidating assets like if it was nothing.

Basically, everything he did after that draft until his firing is the reason why we're not a contender by now. We could have been an Elite team and considering what we started the rebuild with and going full scorched earth, we SHOULD BE.

Tampa going all-in with Bjorkstrand and Gourde

Bet money on them to win the cup at the start of the year at great odds. Feeling like they got a pretty good shot.

f***ing Kent Hughes, Jake Evans camp was asking for 4 years x 4.0 AAV, and he got him at 2.85 AAV

Dinged with? Unless I’m missing something isn’t it the same cap ‘loop hole’ used for Kucherov and Stone?

Kucherov was coming back from a hip replacement and Stone had a back surgery (or spleen?), totally legit. Not sure about Matthew Tkachuk but it's obviously not going to be easy to cheat on the NHL and the 31 other owners. Billionaires will of course ask for due diligence.

Their forward group is amazing

Guentzel - Point - Kucherov
Hagel - Cirelli - Bjorkstrand
Paul - Gourde - Chaffee
Girgensons - Glendening - Goncalves

My teams this year are probably going to be Tampa in the east and Oilers/Jets in the West. Hoping McDavid wins the Cup.

Yeah and they got 2 Stanley Cups this decade.

Plus a SCF and made the playoffs 7 years in a row. They missed in 2016-17 but made the ECF and another SCF just before that.

This is what it looks like when you have best in class management.

They are looking like a contender again so could be 3. I said it a while ago they are a top team in the east and we wouldn’t match well against them.

At the time consensus here was NJD was a powerhouse and TBL depth was depleted and they were a bubble team. Even before Hughes injury the Devils have dropped off and Tampa is doing what I thought they would with seasoned skilled vets charging into the playoffs. I’ll gloat in this rare occasion of being right vs the majority

Tampa has joined Canes and Panthers in the eastern contender list. Would rather play Leafs in the first round for sure, but at this point happy just to have a seat at the playoff table.
