Vancouver was never going to trade Pettersson, they just dangled him out there to help make them not seem as desperate to move Miller. But it was always going to be Miller.

From the way the radio heads and their guests were talking Petterson is the player a team would want out of that group and Miller was not enticing at all. Sounds like he is more the disruptive and dysfunctional - so a good fit for the Rangers :sarcasm: :D

Rangers will not make the playoff .Miller won't change much to that team. They need most of the time elite goaltending to win games or win by playing high offense game.

I think they were likely to make the playoffs prior to the deal and this only helps.

.894 SV% and a -0.071 goals saved above average per 60. Those are improvements on last season, he went from putrid to mediocre.
He has been undeniably better than last year, but he's also got soft deployment and infrequent starts as a backup. No matter what struggles Swayman has had, and there've been a lot, they haven't rode Korpisalo for any stretch of games this year. He's a backup and is handling that decently. The issue in Ottawa was the expectation he could be a consistent starter playing a starters load. He got himself a nice contract from an outlier UFA season and should be an okay backup for Boston, right where he belongs imo.

Got to hope the Islanders can defeat Tampa tonight. It's a real dog fight between Ottawa, Columbus & TBL for the 3rd divisional seed & the 1st wildcard slot.
