I don't like them either but have to give credit where credit is due.Regardless, I don't like them. My bias may be irrational, but it's taken root.
Meh. Glad we didn't make that tradeThat's it?!?
We could have traded that to get a winger for Stützle.
Also, lol, losing to the Sens caused Seattle to overreact and make a trade.
You wouldn't trade JBD for Kakko?Meh. Glad we didn't make that trade
Buffalo easily says no.Hate to do this but Greig for Peterka?
This is wild...two trades today and the only name I recognize is Kakko. Feels like half the names in this league changed over the last 2-3 seasons. Hard to keep up these days.
Trading Forsberg to us for pennies on the dollar?? Don't ask how the cap would work, I haven't thought that far ahead.Uhh what are the preds doing
be careful of these lists.View attachment 947494
The older teams on the list are actually the oldest in terms of age and experience, which isn't surprising considering the cap coming in made younger players increasingly more important post-2004 due to ELCs.
I'm not seeing a lot of variation that would imply a huge generational shift.
NO.. I am worried that are two best players are:Remember in the pre
Soooooo, if I’m correct you’re cheering against the Sens because Stutzle, Sanderson, Pinto, Kleven Greig are all 22??? But you love Travis Hamonic because he’s 34???
be careful of these lists.
they take into account all players. And so those 2-5 ELC guys from the AHL that get games, skew the average down.
Do a search, I am too busy to find it myself. Another data shows "active player age".. Now see the up tick the last 4-5 years.
If you look at the core 15-16 players on many of the more successful teams the last 4-5 years, you hit a number that is closer to 29/30 years old. I was surprised and did not expect it. It was a solid 2-3 years older than I assumed..
what you are seeing is not normal, it is generational.
Anyway.. the Millennials will be flushed in 2-3 years, we will see what happens.
BUT do yourself a favour.. research playoff droughts.. see how many teams from 2015- today, are on top of those lists.
Buffalo #1 all time
Detroit (if they miss again) will be #2 all time
Ottawa (If they miss this year) will be tied for #3 or #4 all time
Anaheim (almost guaranteed to miss) will be top 10 all time
San Jose (Guaranteed to miss) will be top 10 all time
5 teams, all in the 2015- today shit pond.. are going to be top 10 all time and occupy the top 3 spots all time.
Now tell me, what the common denominator is??????? add to it the mess that is Utah/Arizona/NJ/NYI/Columbus/Chicago/Montreal. If Montreal did not have that crazy 2021 covid year, what would their last 8 years be?
If people want to hide their heads, okay. Do so, It does not change it.
NO.. I am worried that are two best players are:
Jensen 34/35
Ulmark 31
the last 2 years, Giroux was probably our best: 35, 36
The last 4 years, we have gone into the toilette when ZUB has gone down (26, 27, 28, 29)
25 year old JBD cannot displace 34 year old Hamonic
Sogaard 24, cannot displace 33 year old Foresberg whose knees are not what he had at birth, but what Doctor's gave him.
we have to acquire 36 year old David Perron, because no one 20-25 in this organization could fill the role
we have had to acquire 2-3 FA in the late 20 and 30 because no 20-25 year old in the organization could fill those roles.. EVEN THOUGH, we were in the toilette and have spent 2015-2021 drafting really high.
8 D men drafted 2015-2022 in r1 and r2 combined. Has produced 1 star, 1 average, 1 guy 5/6, and 1 guy 6/7.
and throughout all of this, what has been the common denominator? GEN Z
People can hide their head sin the sand al they want. It doe snot change facts and reality. You know how they say: go woke, go broke? Go Gen Z, draft high every year.
yes, I grant you this. The league was really different back then.
The talent and speed is next level these days. IMO it has essentially nullified the advantages that young guys used to have, where if they came in and they could skate and had skill, they were basically immediately better than most players.
Nowadays everyone you’re playing against is skilled and can skate for the most part. So the advantage goes to players who have more experience, are stronger and have more of a grasp on the details that help you win.
yup.. I get you. So much of what you have written and others is accurate. You do realize that, in the history of the NHL, there have never been more teams missing the playoffs in any given season?
Only half the league makes the post-season with the current slate of 32 teams.
Meanwhile, the NHL has had 16 playoff teams for decades.
It would shock me if the biggest droughts didn’t emerge when it is so much more difficult to make the post season than ever before.
Meanwhile, with the cap, it is prohibitively expensive to try and accelerate the process with free agents.
So... stop right there. Do you really think there is only one possible explanation for these small number of failing teams? You can't possibly come up with any other cause?yup.. I get you. So much of what you have written and others is accurate.
but data analysis, examining of results, all point to change. We are in a different era.
with one common denominator, Gen Z.
...
Why are you ignoring that Stutzle is our best player.NO.. I am worried that are two best players are:

straight up I'd prefer Carrier. This frees up ~2.5m for Nashville. Montreal gets more experience and better defenseI like this for both teams tbh
