To be fair, they were already lacking size on the back end

A lot of teams have dropped the ball regarding him this offseason. The size bias is REAL. It makes sense if you only talk about the playoffs but you have to get there first…

Worst case scenario, if you become a playoffs team, just acquire a D-man with size at the deadline?

Goaltending is one if not the most difficult position in all sports. It’s much harder than it looks. Every NHLer is elite at hockey, facing them night after night is a very tall task

I don’t know if you’ve noticed but I don’t give as much credit to goalies as most fans do and opposedly, I also don’t blame them as much… Goalies will most of the time be the reflection of the team in front of them. Frankly, the job can only be really understood if you did it on a regular basis.

6 goals on 22 shots don’t necessarily mean much, it’s frustrating as you can’t like these odds but that’s what can happen when the goalie can’t repair the many mistakes in front of him. Plus, like other players, goalies can also make mistakes as hockey is a sport of error (every ex NHLer regularly says that on TV/radio)

I agree, but I don't think it needs to be stated each time. Obviously, when people use hyperbole to describe players, they're speaking relative to NHL standards and every NHLer is at a high level, so when people say Korpisalo is trash, I assume they say it knowing he's still probably 1 of the top 200 tenders in the world.

I didn't watch the game but I just looked at the Habs goals and frankly there's not even one that the goalie was supposed to save. I guess the "easiest", as crazy as it sounds, was Suzuki's point blank one timer from the slot.

Breakaway and great shot, 5 on 3 PP deflection, odd-men rush one timer, one timer from the slot on a turnover, another slot shot with all the time in the world and double screen, PP goal from Caufield in an empty net as the goalie had to cover the other post. Sabres defense was probably just terrible in that game.

But not going to complain, we need the Habs to win more games and the Sabres to lose more.

GAA and SV% don't mean much over small sample sizes and playing for certain teams can certainly affect your numbers, like I have been saying for years regarding Sens goalies. Look at Ullmark numbers right now vs when he was with the Bruins... and we're much much better defensively right now than we have been during the rebuild.

I didn't even see the highlights tbh, just looking at box scores.

I do agree to an extent that the team in front of them is a determining factor, but the few that are able to separate themselves do still exist, even if they still ride the team waves too, they're just fewer and further between these days and I do think we have one in Ullmark. It's a distinct advantage for the few teams that have it. Guys like Shesterkin, Hellybuck, Demko, Swayman, Ullmark, etc. are clearly a cut above guys like say Korpisalo and Forsberg.

I'd begin the re-tool right away. Karlsson isn't doing much there anyway, but I also don't want to give much, so that's that for us.
