NJ is a president's Cup contender IMO.

Franchise centre in J Hughes, great forward depth, great D-core and now they got a solid goal in Markstrom

So your response to them being overated is telling me Vegas is over rating them?

The whole point is people have been fooled by one season where they overachieved, Vegas included.
No, my response it that they are an extremely good team, and are being extremely undervalued here, using the Vegas odds just reinforces that.

It’s not crazy to have a team that is a betting odds top 3-5 team in cup odds in the top 5.

More than fair to think it’s crazy, that’s your opinion, and one I’d lead more towards. But, that opinion is far out on what’s “expected”

Vegas had the leafs as cup favourites prior to season starting last 2 years.
Sure?

They were definitely considered cup favorites, and would have been considered a top 5 team in the league. They finished 5th in points, they were 3rd in pre season odds. Pretty good valuation. The Devils last year, not so much.

I’m not telling you to plunk coins down on Toronto or Jersey, I wouldn’t be, I’m just staying that Jersey being considered a top 5 team isn’t an out of pocket ranking. It’s essentially per the course.

I see NJ a bit like us. They so badly needed competent goaltending as a start just to be able to reasonably compete. Now they have that and it's put up or shut up.
They've lost all 4 pre-season games so far. Not sure how many games Markstrom has played but I know it's been at least one. They lost twice to NYI and once to Washington and the Canadiens. I know it's only pre-season but not a good look. Personally, I think they're a bubble team like us as I think NYI will be better than them with their goalie and defensive style of play. I think NYR and Carolina are a lock.

The team that makes a habit of playing like idiots trying to injure players in preseason has it happen to them. I seem to be having a hard time mustering up sympathy for them.

It's more for Laine than the team itself. He's Finnish, great talent, could have been one of the best talents of this generation but unfortunately, it didn't go this way

I hope the Habs have zero injury this season and don't draft in the Top-10 again. They can start being unlucky when they compete for a playoff spot but for now, we'd actually need them to be lucky

Korpi not as good this game. Only .946 on 37 shots

So far that’s 42 saves 2 goals against
I’ll be keeping track ;)
