Agreed. I have been to the Peg many times and the only reason the Jets exist is because of David Thompson. The Jets have always been a labour of love for him not a going concern.yes, but he does not buy tickets. The fans do.
Winnipeg has a large indegenous population. It also has a working class general population. The surrounding area is farming.
While charming, it is hardly a growing, dynamic hub. Little to no public sector, although Lloyd Axworthy tried his hardest. Little to no industrial growth. A constant pissing contest between the 3 Federal parties and similar battle at the provincial level, has meant no influence. Winnipeg has failed to transform itself into our Chicago. A central city that binds eastern and western Canada. The middle portion of Canada has been bypassed for years. North-Western Ontario through Eastern Alberta are open range with little there.
If so much as a tiny percentage of decline in economic growth and it gets buried.
Winnipeg is simply a much larger Cornwall.. I lived in Cornwall. You do not place entities that rely on "disposable income" there.
