yes, but he does not buy tickets. The fans do.

Winnipeg has a large indegenous population. It also has a working class general population. The surrounding area is farming.

While charming, it is hardly a growing, dynamic hub. Little to no public sector, although Lloyd Axworthy tried his hardest. Little to no industrial growth. A constant pissing contest between the 3 Federal parties and similar battle at the provincial level, has meant no influence. Winnipeg has failed to transform itself into our Chicago. A central city that binds eastern and western Canada. The middle portion of Canada has been bypassed for years. North-Western Ontario through Eastern Alberta are open range with little there.

If so much as a tiny percentage of decline in economic growth and it gets buried.

Winnipeg is simply a much larger Cornwall.. I lived in Cornwall. You do not place entities that rely on "disposable income" there.
Agreed. I have been to the Peg many times and the only reason the Jets exist is because of David Thompson. The Jets have always been a labour of love for him not a going concern.

And again tonight

I am interested to see how he does... Smart, Talented... but very small. So far so good.. I bet he does ok

He's small in stature, but doesn't play small

He's fearlessness, fast and is a buzzsaw with a ton of skill. That's the kind of player that's going to find success, and size matter the least for wingers.

I wouldn't be worried about size or being able to play at the NHL level for a guy like him, it's guys like Dumais who I would be worried about translating.

Agree . I like the way he plays. He's a catalyst.

Tanev going to Dallas.

Jersey is the third team in this deal and gets a 4th round pick for retaining 50% on Tanev's salary.

Calgary does not get the first round pick they were hoping for.

Who would've thought Hyman would hit 40g. The guy might hit 50g this season.

Impress stuff and the one Oiler I find hard to hate on.
two stars on his team, heading towards 125 and 105 point seasons (McD and Leon)
A dman on his team heading towards 80-85 point season (Evan B)
A quality offensive forward heading towards 80-83 point seasons (RNH)

At anyone time, he is on the ice with 1- 4 guys who are offensive stars. And those 4 are in the league's top 30 or so in points.

50 plus goals is impressive, but with McJesus and Leon next to you...

or Warren Young with Mario
or Steve Shutt with Lafleur and Lemaire
or any of the 1/2 dozen guys Gretzky played with
or the 3-4 guys Sidney Crosby played with

the ocean is deep with guys who ride coat tails.

We had some of our own for brief periods. Bobby Butler and Colin Greening come to mind.

Based on those comments from Tanev about winning, probably safe to cross the Senators off his list.

Must be nice being a team like the Stars, being competitive year in year out, and still churning out extremely strong prospects year in year out.

They have a the top 2 scorers in the AHL, at 21 and 20 years old, who are bound to jump in as productive top 6 players in the very near future. Neither was a high 1st.

Bischel is an absolute unit, going to be a very good shutdown D in a year or two.

Johnston was a recent late 1st pick, is an NHL gamechanger already

They are a dangerous organization. Very well run.

Pulling for a Canadian team? I hope a western team wins, and selfishly I want the Sens to be the next Canadian team to win the cup. Sorry Nucks, Jets, Oilers, and (maybe) Flames fans!
Ha, ya I'm pretty much cheering for the 4 Canadian teams you listed. I live in the west, so most of my friends are fans of 1 of those 4. I'd say Edmonton is the one I'd be most confident in to do any damage, if I had to choose. I think time zones get me more interested too simply because those are the games on when I'm on the couch. Senators games are usually watched on tape delay for me.

I've never really been drawn to the teams down in the bible belt, like Dallas, for whatever reason. Carolina a little maybe.

I have said it in the past and will repeat.
