At the time Jason Robertson played in 3 games that year and wasn’t dressed for any of the Stars 27 playoff games that season.
If you don’t judge that trade looking back, rather in the time when it was to happen it’s believable. Jason’s brother Nick was projected to have a higher ceiling.

Yeah. I remember this was discussed and at the time it seemed very reasonable. Dallas was expected to do well so the pick wasn’t a huge cost and Robertson was simply a prospect. I - for one - didn’t find that offer to be overwhelming though I was fine with trading Kreider.

Man do I ever wish we got #1 instead of #2 lol, he's the exact type of player we're missing. The tempo, the skating, the swagger, willingness to go right through the middle. I can't believe so many Ranger fans wanted Kakko over him after the lottery leading up to the draft, it was always abundantly clear how much better he was. That's the biggest reason Kakko & Laf are struggling so much, this is a different era. If you can't skate you've already lost most the battle.
