The Rust contract is good. Stop being haters. He’s been one of the most productive physical wingers in the NHL for three years and 5M today ain’t what it once was. Bread makes more than twice that, but doesn’t produce anywhere twice as much and also isn’t a physical or defensive player. I hate Rust, but I won’t hate on the contract. It’s objectively a good deal.

Rust is neither good defensively nor physical. He's a good complementary scoring wing whose numbers are inflated by playing entirely with Crosby and Malkin. It's a fine contract. It's also unnecessary to pay that much to stick a guy on Crosby's wing when everyone who has ever played there has produced.
