Looks like the Habs are gonna loser point their way into the playoffs.

Gotta love the NHL points system where you can lose two games in a row and still move up in the standings.

I would much prefer the three point system used in Europe.

I wish it would be a contingency for future expansion. The only good argument I hear these days revolves around old records, we change other aspects of the game without that concern. I really don't get not being on that system.

I get the through the body contact, but this reminds me of caring about hits to the head and not putting in the IIHF 10 minute misconduct. I would still allow for legal strikes through the body, but if you really want it out of the game there is a rulebook that does that. The league says one thing and does another.

They haven't been playing consistently good for awhile but have gotten a fair amount of luck and had their goalies carry them thru a number of games. Much like how folks were saying our seven game win streaks weren't an accurate reflection of our over all quality, same can be said for Montreal (and Columbus, and Ottawa, etc.).

Absolutely. They've been very fortunate and will be lucky to match the Wings point total from last year. Demidov looking legit is the scariest development this year IMO.
 
I know Demidov is the new shiny toy, but how scary is Montreal really? They got production from Demidov last night and still could not clinch a playoff spot at home against the Hawks?! They will probably make the playoffs this year, but they will continue to be very mid.

Defensively they still blow. They are just as flawed as the Wings.

They remind me of the Wings last year with their scoring at the right times.

Montreal will sucks until most of their core players reach 23yo. Sorry about that

Never even considered it...but I love the idea. We really should give the PKing team a reason to take a risk and push for a goal. And you'd make shorties that much more devastating. If you score a shorty, you should be well rewarded.

Those races for pucks as PKers try to spring for a breakaway could be some of the most exciting moments in the game. You might have PKers that specialize in trying to attack alone while their linemates change.

The biggest argument against is probably that scaredy cat power plays might have put two defenseman on the point again, switch from a diamond to a box etc.

You have players getting suspended for skipping the all star game. Shit like this ought to have some sort of repercussions. And yes, when Scotty did it back in the day it was pretty dumb too.

No offence, but non teams fans shouldn't post in other teams forums about stuff like this. Not saying I agree with who you posted about, but he is free to talk shit about other teams on the Wings board, the same as you can on the Habs forum about other teams.

Does anyone else think the Sens are going to bully the Leafs in to submission? I think the Canes are going to smoke the Devils too. The Florida series might be fun to watch. I'm not really over the top about any of the first round matchups though.
