That was what I thought was going to happen too It’s why it’s so important to get as many cracks at a ring as possible.

Avs have had 4 years where they looked cup worthy, and only got past the 2nd round the time they won.

Still think the Oilers offseason moves will bite them in one of these series. We saw cracks against the Kings before they imploded, and Vegas won’t be easy. Their defensive structure isn’t nearly as sound last year, both at ES and on the PK.

If it’s Game 7 you go for it and ride your horses. Game 1? Not so much. Harley with a “whooping 27 minutes” at age 23 is different from Doughty getting a whooping 28 minutes at age 35. Similarly, 24 minutes for a Dman is different than 21+ minutes for a forward. Of course age and the player’s ability to handle the minutes are factors as well. Ovechkin’s minutes were well managed. He’s playing less in the playoffs than in the regular season.

Unless the Avs added that condition to the trade like Ott did to SJ on the EK trade. That the Sharks could not move EK to an Eastern club or something for the duration of the remainder of his Ott contract.

Given that Car was a lock for the PO and the fact that they acquired Guentzal and kept him past the TDL plus they had in the past let Hamilton, Ferlund, Pesce, Skjei walk as UFA, I guess Avs didn't expect them to flip Rant if they couldn't sign him before the TDL.

Also ironic that it was J. Drury, whom they also got in the CAR deal that took the penalty which gave the Stars the PP on the GWG.

Weird to say but this is going to be the Leafs season. If they can beat the Panthers they’re going to the cup final. Florida will be by far their biggest test, you gotta think they’d be favourites against either Washington or Carolina. And then it’s a flip of a coin for the Cup

I'm not sure why people think The Leafs would be favorites against the Canes or the Caps. Maybe the Canes but they are both extremely solid defensively and could easily wipe out the Leafs. The West also has better teams in Vegas, Dallas, and Winnipeg. Toronto looked very poor against the Sens.

I wonder how many minutes of talk they will get over the next month on sports tv or radio in those cities. I imagine itll be in the 10's. The pressure must be intense living in a city that barely notices they exist.

Surprised Dobson is there since he's a RFA this summer. Why take the risk?
