If its points what do you need.. pount per game? 90?

Byfield is coming along big strong center that needs to get better at 200 ft but he will be fine. I mean when you play like LA does scoring expectations need to be adjusted a bit
1st line C should put up PPG

Pathetic. Hellybuck, what a conundrum. Buffalo would say YES YES YES to a goalie that gets them to the playoffs even if he stinks once he's there.
Buffalo would be a perfect destination for him, if it ever came to trading him

So? They still need a good 2C and Byfield can be that. He's only 22 and is still improving. Trading Byfield would be a mistake, Byfield is filing a need in LA already. If they trade him they'll just end up in the JR/Allvin loop of having to trade for a player to replace to player you just traded.

Kopitar isn’t going to be around for that many more years…

I am not the one arguing they should trade him away, I was commenting how LA isn’t really in that great of a place. They rebuilt and they exited it without drafting even 1 foundational guy and pissed away majority of the asset on, Fiala and Kuemper.

Ok so at 22 and trending the right direction 30 more points is attainable

Minutes with kempe would help as well as more pp time

He outscored kopitar this year at 5on5
I mean, it’s not a given that a prospect can hit PPG…. Saying he’s only 30 points off is like, well yeah 30 pts is a large number.

I mean Kopitar is kinda aging too. If he outscored Kopi at ES and Kopi is still putting up like 90 pts then that’s something..

I barely think he cracked 70
Regardless everything realistically is pointing to byfield trending into a top line center for them

All the more reason they will keep Byfield. He and Kempe are their best pieces up front outside and very old Kopitar. Kempe and Fiala are 28. LA aren't in great shape which is why they need to hold onto a 22yo.

If a LA finds a way out of this it will be through good FA luck or a rebuilt, either way they should keep Byfield.

Let’s put it this way, if EP40 scores 70pt as a 1C and play elite defense, are you going to be like yeah we are f***ing on our way to success.

Yeah I don’t see why they would want to trade away Byfield, they aren’t exactly flush with prospects.

Checks kopitars points in their two cup years

Sure
Helps that they had depth back then with Carter, Richard and Quick playing we Vezina level and Doughty playing at a Norris level.

Do you see any of that in LA, yeah don’t think so.

Now i'll admit one of the comments in MY feed that spawned this also discussed how Derek Lalonde said on TV, like Ep40 now, Tbay questioned his work ethic at one point earlier in his career, and what did Kuch do later....? Turned into this..

But im pretty sure we will never see that with Ep40. Never.

I gave Twins all the credit in the world for the unheralded beasts they were, ive never seen this once from our current star.

I dont EXPECT that, to be clear, but I also didnt believe "I want the pressure" so id like more of Kuch please and thankyou.

Hellebuyck is Luongo game 6 against Chicago…every single game in the playoffs.

Luongo had some absolutely brutal games in the playoffs no doubt, but he generally made up for them with absurd, game stealing performances the other way.

Hellebuyck makes Dan Cloutier’s playoff performances look good, I’ve never seen a goalie this mentally cooked before. From MVP candidate to ECHL level type shit - I almost put AHL level but even Silovs in his abysmal performances this year looked better than this.

Hellebuyck reminds me of Campbell or even Skinner. Which is not a comparison I'd ever expect to make. However, both can be terrific goalies when they're dialed in and focused. When they're not, they can't seem to recover from their own internal thoughts and dig themselves even deeper.

The difference is Hellebuyck's innate skill is so high, he can sometimes bail himself out in spite of himself whereas Campbell and Skinner never could/can.

Short memory.

In his first few seasons Pettersson was noted to be the first on, last off the ice for practices. Staying after for an extended amount of time working on skills. Even influencing an ever growing group of his teammates to stay after with him. (Not Loui Eriksson of course.)

It's in there some where, he just needs to rediscover it.

Lol but thats the point there are so many factors that can play into it so the 1C can be many things

Back in all the rebuild conversations you were always consistent in explaining cup winning teams come in all forms built

I am saying the same thing but about 1Cs

Petey was still training hard in the summers of '22 and '23, leading to 100+ point season and on pace for another

Sadly, he was overplayed in garbage time of '23, leading to the overuse injury that has wrecked his right knee

I guess the NHL is not a video game, where you can overplay people and they don't break down

That’s why I said overall they are not in good shape, it wasn’t just about Byfield.

Was hoping for a run from the Jets, but they needed to have taken care of the Blues within 5-6 games to get some rest before facing Dal/col winner. Now, even if they advance they go into that series with no extra rest.

Can't win on the road.
