i think we see a MIN vs. NYR final

the Wild are playing very good hockey at both ends, they have the most consistent D and 'tending in the West at this point. i see them advancing.

ANH and CHI are to inconsistent when it comes to those two areas.

hoping for a NYI vs. NYR match up....that will be absolutely crazy if it happens.

pulling for the Isles all the way

Agree `100%. Hawks are beating (and should be) a team playing without it's two top players. Even with Weber, their lack of a true #1 center and top 3 talent is costig them. WHy did Poile give up a 1st round pick for Franson, they didn't need d. (And I think Josi and Jones have been amazing)
But they won't get past the Wild, who are playing better and more consistant.

Ducks are winning because the Jets are way too green ,and even then they are controlling over 65% of the games played. They crack in the 3rd, start playing too toght, not to make a mistake, that is a common error /flaw with teams lacking playoff experience. But the Ducks haven't done anything so far that suggests they'll get to the WCF.

Rangers started slow last year as well, were not very good in round 1 vs flyers and got better. Pens are done, lucky to even be in the playuoffs. And big changes will be underway in Pitts. (as well as boston)

And as a Flyer fan is dismays me to hear th local media saying (from what they hear from those close to Hexy in the front office) Davis Payne is high on his coaching list. Great. Nice that the Kings move on and get a real offensive coach with creativity, but the Flyers get stuck with Payne, who I can't stand.
HOpefully the other rumor aobut Tippet is better, him i like

hey if Payne nets Dean a pick or some compensation, i'm all for it. i wasn't a big fan of him when they hired him. Dean, Darryl and John need to find someone with a terrific and innovative offensive mind. someone that will bring fresh ideas and spark excitement with the players. create a new sense of urgency and view that will carry over onto the ice

completely agree about ANH and WPG. the Jets crack and the Sux keep ekeing out wins, with a subpar performance.

the more i see S Jones, the more i like the kid. another 2-3 seasons of experience and he will likely be a top 5 D in the NHL. size, very good IQ, well above average speed for a D man, plays both ends, etc. the kid is future stud. Josi is damn good as well, but Jones is going to have a big breakout season once he gains some more experience

the Hawks to me look tired. they remind me of what we saw from LA, but not as bad. they are so inconsistent right now it amazes me (and all the guys i know here in CHI). personally i think they keep going back to that 'we can flip a switch' mentality, because they've done it previously. the problem is they are bit older, a bit slower, tired, etc.....

CHI will NOT get past MIN if they play them. mark my words

You folks would hate whoever replaced Payne(in due time). A different assistant coach would change very little with how the Kings play.

You folks know this, come on now.

Also I wonder how those Canuck fans feel right now. A lot of them were boasting, Calgary would be an easy round 1 match up.

they are going to claim injuries and they Calgary got lucky, just like they did with us in 2012

Nashville is such an impressive defensive team, but they need a couple more offensive weapons. Another Neal-like player and a 1C. Jones is gonna be an absolute stud in his prime.

Mike Stothers, AHL Coach of the Year, has got the Monarchs going with the #1 power play in the AHL. So it is possible to have a good PP within the Kings' system.

I hope you're right. I could get behind Minnesota.

You have lost your damn mind.

Heh heh. I care about the Kings' legacy this decade. I don't want them to be a footnote to the storyline of The Chicago Blackhawks Were The Best of the 2010-2019 decade.

ETA: I want to give props to Bad Will Hunting for the funny, creative and not at all weird thread title.

I can't find the Tweet from the 2013 Draft, but it was hilarious. Went something like - EMT needed at the Nashville table. Poile needs resuscitation after seeing Jones is still on the board.

not that guy, but let me tell you... as a Kings fan now residing in Chicago, there's not a lot worse than the vast amount of insufferable Hawks bandwagoners here, the majority of which still know next to nothing about their team outside of Kane & Toews (let alone hockey) despite being "fans" since 2010

beating them last year was one of the happiest sports moments of my entire life

I forgot about the elation after a win and the massive depression after a loss. Plus waiting a day between games. At least in 2013 I got the Kings and Isles on alternating days for the 1st round.

I love the post season.

:help:

The Kings PP was 11th in the league this year. Tied with Dallas. Better than Calgary, Tampa Bay, NY Islanders, Boston, Chicago, NY Rangers, Anaheim, Colorado. Didn't feel like it though.

If anyone could ever find the secret to the PP, he'd be hired by every team at the same time. It's amazing how often it doesn't work, even with being able to ice the puck. Down a man, and you're still far more likely to kill the penalty than not. Not just doesn't work, but sometimes teams don't even get shots, and it can be teams that logically have no reason not to get shots.

Here's the secret - go to the net. Kopitar is allergic to the center of the ice and the net. The power play is not a passing clinic.

I actually agree with this. It doesn't matter what is done with the offense as long as things like Lewis being on the first line keep happening... There are 2 ways of fixing that problem... 1) Trade Lewis... 2)Dump the guy that puts Lewis on the first line.

If neither option is taken I expect the Kings to be fighting for a wild card spot next year and any little mishap can put them where they are today. The Pacific is just getting too competitive to have the 18th overall offense and expect any certainty in making the playoffs.

Edit: Only team in the Pacific with a worse offense then the Kings last year was Edmonton. They just added McDavid and may actually have a real coach to start next year!

It's not Lewis' fault that we lacked scoring and he was the best option. He is a VERY good bottom 6 player

I don't live anywhere near Chicago but I'm with you here. The overhyping of their players would reach new levels if they won the cup again. Not to mention the bragging of their fans of how biiiiig their parade is.

My feeling is anyone but Chicago or Anaheim. **** both of these teams.

true but Chicago doesn't have the dead weight that LA currently has.

Kings get rid of Richards and they're fine. Brown too, but he isn't going anywhere.

Crawford is arguably dead weight based on his laughable contract and bench riding skills thus far this post season. Their 3rd pairing is also a ****ing dumpster fire, but they've managed to avoid having that exploited so far.

Kings suddenly have a glaring hole at 3C and top6 wing, although I'll be much more worried if we don't resign Sekera because I honestly don't want to see Martinez/Greene/McBain anywhere near top 4 minutes.
