Skinner is really one 'gawd-awful' goaltender.

It still sticks in your craw a year later, that the Canucks couldn't find a way to exploit him in game seven of their second round series last spring.

If the Oilers win, it'll be 'in spite' of their goaltending, rather than 'because' of it.

as my kid said tonight, if edmonton wins i’m happy because it’ll be nice to have a canadian team win the cup this year. if they lose i’ll be happy because the oilers lost.

win-win

f*** the dallas crowd for chanting usa. canes over oilers, but screw florida and texas.

with that said, stuart skinner should be charged for treason, good god. didn't make a single save on a defensive breakdown.

Skinner can have good games for sure. But too many games like this one where he just cannot give the team some timely stops.

Last post-season the Oilers had a 30% PP and 94+% PK. It was unlikely they would ever see that sort of PK number again. Also unlikely they will see the current 60ish % PK over the long term as well.

But over the past 2 regular season they are a sub-80% PK team which is pretty much the same average of the postseasons.

I think the high pk numbers last post season is a by product of their speedy depth guys getting no ES ice time so they are super fresh when they need to PK.

This season, the speedy guys are mostly gone and McDrai aren’t playing stupid minutes, it’s not surprising the PK is not doing so hot. Oh and no Ekholm.

Did halloway and or broberg play on the pk last year?

One of them suggested McDavid was past his prime and on the decline
To be fair...every fanbase has morons. We had some last season suggesting it might be wise to trade Hughes because of his "inability to perform in the playoffs."

Re: Toronto and the pressure of playing in a Canadian market

I'm not sure if this is a controversial take or not but is hockey the only sport where fanbases/media are shamed for caring too much about the team? There's no other sport I can think of where athletes avoid the biggest markets and say there's too much pressure or whatever. Look at soccer, do players avoid Man U/Arsenal/Real Madrid/Bayern? Same with basketball - do players avoid going to Lakers/Knicks/Celtics because there's too much spotlight and pressure? No, everyone wants to play there. Nobody wants to play soccer at Bournemouth or ball in Sacramento.

The whole thing is so overblown and makes no sense really. If anything the more important factor is probably taxes and how you pay less of it in some US states.

Very mid hire. But then again, no one was hyped for Arniel in Winnipeg either.

That was my thought. Wasn't the worst they could've done but thought maybe some others could have done better. Hard to argue with a president's trophy and a banged up roster losing in the 2nd round.

I hope Wpg can re-up most and some of their prospects take some steps forward.

I feel bad for the Islanders. Finally getting rid of Lou and then they get this right after. They deserve better
