Around the League Thread | Post Purge

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

If Minnesota loses tonight, we have a game in hand back seven points, but look at that schedule, lots of desperate teams

6-1STL and game.

Broberg with 4 pts and a +4, now 27 pts on the season and a nice +20.

The two offer sheets are beyond highway robbery lol.
It’s funny that the Oilers decided nah the kids aren’t worth it and then went out to sign a bunch of mid old UFAs.

I guess you can tell how much they value them when they had them considering they were playing McD and Draisaitl like 30 min per game during the playoffs.

St Louis is on a roll and seem destined to make it.

Hoping for Minnesota to continue slipping.. 4-5-1 in last 10 games.

we might need to except the fact that we miss the playoffs now, so when we are officially eliminated we won't be as sad or mad or disappointment.

scott laughton has 1 secondary assist in last 16 games

and 2 points in his last 23 games

how the FRANK did he a 1st round pick at the deadline

no way im being convinced some of our players didnt have value

That's the mindset I'm going with. In fact, I'm more excited about the Abbotsford Canucks in the Calder Cup playoffs!

They certainly had value. This organization is just the biggest chicken shit in this league in terms of selling at the deadline. I've never ever seen a team that just won't do it no matter what situation they find themselves in. Every other team, even the chronically dysfunctional ones, has had at least a season or two in which they had a sale and collected a bounty of draft picks and prospects.

In the last 13 drafts we've had more than 7 picks twice, and never more than 9, and they've been a playoff team in only a couple of those seasons.

If Hughes still believes, then i still believe. If they somehow go on a miraculous run and sneak in then obviously that would be great, but right now I’m just enjoying watching Hughes on the otherworldly run he’s been on recently. I’m not upset about missing the playoffs if they continue to turn in the types of efforts they’ve had the past few games. Everyone’s working hard, there’s no drama, and Hughes is looking like a top 3 player in the world.

Yeah I feel pretty content at this point. I just want to see progress from Lekkerimaki, Junior, Mancini etc. as well as Willander when he eventually gets here. And obviously just enjoying watching Hughes. That's where I'm at for the remainder of the season. And I really hope they keep the 1st rounder. I'd like to look forward to draft day.

St. Louis is a veteran team with a soft closing schedule.....and both the Flames and Blues won tonight, so we're back in 10th place in the conference.

It isn't happening this year in VanCity. Really impossible to overcome all the turmoil, trades and injuries.

I'm more actually interested in see what Abby can do in the Calder Cup playoffs. They're got a stacked group and could go on a run. Their chances are as good as anyone if they can get the goaltending.

Forget catching St Louis - we have a better shot of catching the Wild. They're in total free fall.

This is precisely where I am at as well! :yo::yo::yo:

It's a timeline thing. Hughes is up in 2027, but a decision likely made around July 1, 2026. So, the pick from NYR wasn't going to change Hughes decision unless it's a lottery win by NYR.
Making better moves helps. Having a young stud C in the pipeline can be the tonic to complete a trade for a legit C who fits our timeline better than another teams.

As we've seen teams loathe to lose Cs so providing one as a return could be the critical component to get the ideal player that we would get outbid otherwise.
