Around the League Thread | Post Purge

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

There's a lot of interest in hockey in almost every NHL market. The rinks are usually pretty full, and the fans are invested in their team.

But we were talking about the two markets in Vancouver and Seattle, and where NHL hockey ranks in the pecking order. We know where it comes in, in Vancouver.

But in Seattle, if the NBA returns, than the Kraken are likely at or about the bottom of the list. Frankly I think a lot more people in Seattle worry more about the Seahawks trading D.K. Metcalfe to the Steelers, than they do anything that happens down the road at the Climate Pledge Arena.

But that's the issue in a lot of NHL markets in America. It's the NFL; the NBA; MLB; College Sports and NHL hockey--in that order.
I think there’s a lot of nostalgia for the Sonics for sure but I don’t think it’s really a mutually exclusive fandom. There is a lot of money in Seattle from tech and people are looking for shit to do, another team is not going to really affect things that much. Never mind the fact Sonic’s are probably going to be shit as well since when they will be an expansion.

Well the Blues won today and we are 5 points behind them and have 10 games left.

The Blues have 10 games left.

Lots of daggers to go around, yesterday was worse IMO as the single point against the Blues was lucky they didn't play very well the last 2 minutes.
Luck or no luck.. gotta keep western teams to 0 points regardless.

As soon as myers blindly ran to the boards it was 'ah shit'

The Blues are doing us a huge favour by going on this win streak late in the season.
I agree. This Canuck team isn't built to go anywhere in the playoffs--even if by some miracle they squeaked in. I mean seriously--who in the Western Conference would they actually beat in the first round?

Better to use the last 10 games or so as auditions for next season.....a ton of ice-time for the rookies; rest guys like Hughes and Hronek who are playing ridiculous amounts of minutes night after night. If EP40, Hoglander and Garland are nursing injuries--shut them down.

If this team gets reeled in by Calgary and Utah in the standings--it would actually be beneficial.

It looks like Dorrington signed with the Rangers…

…it will be interesting to see how he develops.

It seems like he has the style of game that could transition well to pro hockey and he could become a useful, old school stay at home type of punishing depth d-man.

Something stinks in Beantown, by the looks of it? Kind of an odd Q and A.

If that was about the Kings game, I'm with Z there? Khusnutdinov(sp?) runs into Kuemper (though not hard) while he's sitting deep in the crease, so Kuemper facewashes and removes Khud's helmet in return. Gavrikov just removes Khud from the crease with no further altercation. Then Swayman decides he'll skate to the middle of the ice and challenge Kuemper to a fight over an incident that went roughly even.

It ends with Swayman letting in 4 more after the fact.

Z's not being diplomatic but he's also right. I think stuff like that is actually why the team worked out well with him, with "I don't care what anyone else thinks" Miller in the locker room but having someone who spoke bluntly and truthfully to him instead of just letting him dominate the room.

Hmm.....I see Luke Hughes is an RFA after this season. Would you consider trading for him, or signing him to big offer-sheet?........all the while, knowing that Jack Hughes is a full UFA at the end of the 2027-28 season and would still only be 27.

Everybody always assumes that Quinn would want to join his brothers in Jersey. But how about all three Hughes brothers in Vancouver?

I can’t see the Devils trading him, and I can’t see them refusing to match any offer sheet. Even if the Canucks went max value on it, which they’d have to, I think the Devils would weigh the risk of exactly what you are proposing (losing Jack) and match it anyway.
