Red Sox/MLB 2025 Regular Season

Yup, if i were a GM i'd have to imagine trying to put together a bullpen would be by far the most infuriating part of the job.

Nothing about it makes sense. You could bring in the most consistent, reliable arm out there and he suddenly sucks ass. Or conversely, some bum who spent the last year in AAA inexplicably finds a new groove and is now an all-star. Edwin Diaz being the most prominent example off the top of my head. Stud one year, then gets yanked from the closer role the next.

I think teams like the Yankees and Rays have the right idea personally. It's not the stats you need to be looking at, it's the stuff. Clay Holmes was a bum until the Yankees pitching lab got a hold of him and weaponized that nasty sinker he has. Find yourself a guy who has nasty break on that, a sweeper, or a cutter and try to mold him.

Yup, I firmly believe putting together a good bullpen is like 97% luck. There's just too much volatility year to year with relievers

AL Division Winners: Boston, KC, Texas (and NO, I'm not a Red Sox fan)
AL Wild Card: Detroit, Baltimore, Yankees
NL Division Winners: Philly, Milwaukee, LA
NL Wild Card: Arizona, San Diego, Atlanta
