not to be that person - but why is this here?
why not post it on the Penguins board - it affects them more than it will affect us?

I hope Phil has a great year. Hope Kapanen and Harrington also have great years.

Hope the Pens are the 8th playoff team in the East while scoring the most goals in the league and giving up the most in the league.

Hopefully Kessel has a big enough impact to ensure the Pens make the playoffs as that ensures the Leafs get Pitts 1st round pick next year.

He could score 60 goals and it wouldn't bother me, as there is simply no regret moving on and turning the page on the Kessel era in TO.

We'll be hearing about how great Kessel is, now that he's not on the Leafs, for the next 7 years.

I'd be pretty fine not reading any of Ron's comments regarding the Leafs for the rest of my life

HI DAISY!

 we've been hearing how great he is when he was on the Leafs, him not being on the Leafs shouldn't be that different. whatever. if he gets his 40, good for him.

HI HARRY :D :)

He will tear it up in Pittsburgh without a doubt for at least a few years. That doesn't change the probability that he would not have enjoyed the same level of offensive production had he remained in Toronto during a rebuilding phase, and that his trade value would have diminished as a result.

All I ask is that the Pittsburgh Penguins make the playoffs so we can get the 1st round draft pick next year. If the Penguins finish 8th in the east, 16th in the league and we get a 15th overall pick, that would be gravy. :) They did finish 8th in the east, 15th in the league last season. Resulting in a 16th overall pick (that went to whoever they traded the 2015 1st round pick too). So a mid-table pick can happen again. Hopefully. The Penguins defense/goaltending will have to let them down in a big way if Pittsburgh's Top 6 does well. Last season, they lacked scoring punch and their defense was pretty good. But they lost Paul Martin to free agency and they added Phil Kessel. So their defense won't be as good next season.

In 2013-14, their top goalscorer (Crosby) had 36 goals. Their top 2 goalscorers (Crosby and Kunitz) had 71 goals. Their top 3 (Crosby, Kunitz, Neal) 98. Top 4 (Crosby, Kunitz, Neal, Malkin) 121. And they had 5 players with 20+ (Crosby, Kunitz, Neal, Malkin, Jokinen) 142 goals for the top 5.

In 2014-15, their top co-goalscorers (Crosby and Malkin) had 28 each. Combined 56. Top 3 (Crosby, Malkin, Hornqvist) 81. Top 4 (Crosby, Malkin, Hornqvist, Sutter) 102. Top 5 (Crosby, Malkin, Hornqvist, Sutter, Kunitz) 119.

With Kessel in the mix, they will be scoring more goals. But they'll also allow more goals with Kessel (lol) and without Paul Martin.

That's great and all, but this doesn't belong here. He's no longer part of the Leafs organization.

Also honestly this isn't even a stretch to suggest.

Really if Kessel doesn't score 40, or close to it, playing with Sid or Geno, it will be a bad trade for them. He doesn't do much else on the ice.

Kessel will score 40 goals with Pens, says Wilson

Just 40? I would guess closer to 50goals and Crosby shatters his own assist records :yo:

Real turning point here for Kessel, either he whips into tip-top shape and becomes a Top 3 offensive talent in the league OR he goes the lackluster donut eating route. Should be fun to see either way

If only we had the likes of Crosby/Malkin in their prime :help:

Pittsburgh is going to be an offensive beast next season, too bad it might be all for not, if they can't sort out there defense come playoffs though.

He'll get his goals, but they will be harder to come by against sound defensive structure and hard work teams (hopefully Toronto under Babcock). Phil will be happy with his 40, and then explore the golf courses Pittsburgh has to offer in the spring.

That's about as safe a bet as saying I will be 1 year older than I currently am a year from today.

I dunno, I think Kessel has a higher chance of getting injured than you do of dying, although I don't know how reckless you are, or if you have any medical conditions.

Hard to say, really.

And it's painfully obvious. Not only do I not care what Wilson thinks but this is a no brainer, the question is will he get 50 ? Really though, why are we posting articles about a Pens player ?

Who'll win the trade if kessel scores 50 and wins the cup, but kapanen and harrington both score 30

Do we also win the Cup?

Someone made it really simple back when the trade was first made. If Pittsburgh wins the Cup with Kessel, they win the trade. If we win the Cup with Kapanen, Harrington, 1st, etc., we win the trade. If both teams win the Cup, they both win the trade. If neither team wins the Cup, well...

Well here's the thing.
If Kessel scores 37 with Bozak and say 41/42 with Crosby, does that make him some TSN marvel? Like all of a sudden he's reached some next level? All the people here will say see you traded a 40 goal scorer?

He should be scoring 50 with Crosby vs. Bozak. Not 40.

That's not always how it works, though. By this logic, Hull 'should've' had a 100 goal season with Gretzky.

Right there is chemistry as well. But the reports that automatically state Kessel will do this or Kessel will do that are guilty of the same. Kessel can score 37 with Bozak but if he scores 40 with Crosby it will be made to look like another Leaf failure. Leafs shouldn't have gotten rid of him articles. Having to listen to it.
