Pittsburgh
Pens outshot 14-1 in the first period, Phil/Sid -2. Welcome to the Kessel era, Pittsburgh.

Its now 19-18 shots phil with goal and an assist one hell of defensive backcheck and crosby with a goal. Playing with a lineup with 5 regular fwds and 3 dmen against a almost full cbj lineup

Bad day to be a former Leaf in the Grabner trade.

Acquired together and cut together.

The expectation for everyone but Beck was always that they'd be in the AHL to start the year. I think Beck will get claimed off of waivers, but maybe not. He was traded for Devane, after all.

Gonna be fun to watch PIT this year with Kessel. Lots of goals, at both ends of the ice. I just hope they can claw their way into the playoffs so we get the 1st this year.

Term is hella long, but by the time Seabrook reaches the last few years of his contract, $6.85M won't be what it is today.

Seabrook won't be what he is today either. 7 mil for a 37 year old broken down D is bad regardless of what the ceiling is.

I suspect the Pens are going to be just fine with a Phil/Crosby duo.

Hey r had fantastic chemistry so far. Skilled players seem to gel well with other skilled players.

That Seabrook contract is brutal. I know you want to keep the band together, but that contract (including NTC/NMC) just looks paralyzing.

Keith Aulie was just released from his PTO - remember when he used to play too pairing on the Leafs beside Dion?

Basically payment on past performance. His value and play is just going to go down.

Yep.

Players decline as they age. GMs are going to need to understand this message sooner rather than later. Giving these guys nice fat retirement contracts based on a few great seasons in the middle of their primes is an easy way to kill a teams cap structure in a couple seasons.

And add a Letang and Fleury, plus a weaker conference.

Letang has health issues and Fleury has been horrid in the playoffs.

not to mention that penguins D is questionable at best, that team is going to be an amazingly fun team to watch but wont be winning the cup 100% unless they bring in D.

Benn and Seguin are pretty close to Malkin and Crosby as far as dynamic duos go at this point. Let's not kid ourselves.

Tho as a 3rd wheel Kessel outshines Spezza by a fair margin at this point in their careers.

i don't think the person was comparing the two pairs. just that. Benn/Seguin just instantly clicked and went on fire, and whomever Phil works with will click, and catch on fire. not that Seguin and Benn is are like Malking/Crosby etc.
