Oilers lost 5-2 and the 2 goals were PDO goals. Completely outplayed all night.

edit: 5-3. The third goal was in garbage time

Gezz that's a pretty nice pay day for a player like that. Nils has more goals in a season than he has had points.

Ya. He's probably a 3rd line-4th line tweener and that might be pushing it. A 12-15 minute guy. That seems a strange deal to me. Not a guy you worry about locking up for 5 years. I see why he signed it for sure...capitalizing on his 8 goals this year (never hit double digits) and a strong playoff when they won the cup.

It's not a deal that will hurt Vegas in any real way but it's an odd one.

By comparison Hogs is 3 years younger and has 15 less points in ~150 less games.

Man Minnesota seems to be doing pretty good in the draft.

Who do they have over there again?
Won't know for sure til the kids who were drafted when he arrived make the nhl.

contract status played a major role on draft day, he still had two years remaining on his deal with SKA
Yeah but Seider, Boldy, also returned to their amateur clubs for 2 more years. Most kids would not be nhl ready as a teenager.
But with the khl, they lean towards vets so lack of playing time also hurt. Again, nhl draft pick development depends on their club team for the 2-3 years post draft before they can play for the nhl organization at some level.

I think with players and the KHL it is having a lot less control, and a fear of players not coming over.

I didn’t want to draft him because his scoring just never popped at any level and for a top 10 guy it should at some level.

I don't watch a lot of Oilers hockey, but nearly every goal they allowed against Minnesota was due to an egregious defensive breakdown. There's just no way they don't shake something up soon.

Their historically great (and totally sustainable) PK and defensive play they had in the playoffs will come back to them any minute now.

Its just taking a bit longer because of all the slugs that are now on their roster.

Not a good look for the Hawks they need to get him some help.

Karma for tanking( and anything else that organization has done that i won't get into). They traded away prime age talent like Debrincat and Dach to deliberately be as bad as possible. Now they have no good prime aged forwards to carry the load. If there is any franchise that deserves a Buffalo and Oilers playoff drought, it's them

Eh, I think they're a competitive team when they are playing well. But something is badly off and I think they will make a move soon.

Hoping for more of a Washington Generals like losing streak…

A versatile player that can play wing and C, move up and down the lineup, and chip in with some offense. I wonder if that sets the baseline for Suter next summer. $2.5m isn't bad, actually pretty fair for Suter, but I'm not sure if I want to go 5 years.

If teams are paying 2.5-3M for 35 point players, caps are going to be really screwed. Not saying I don't want them to be paid, they deserve it but can't pay them all that. If Canucks had to pay Blueger, Sherwood, Suter all 2.5 a year, that's 3M less in cap space. It's a fine line.

What was Hansen back in the day on his last contract with the Canucks at the same AAV?

The Blackhawks clearly expected Bedard to be a franchise player and prop up a shitty team like McDavid did during the mid-late 2010s.

The harsh reality is Bedard needs proper seasoning and will probably see his development get f***ed due to being on a pathetic shit team.

Bedard is a winger in the Kane/Gaudreau/Panarin mold. He isn't a C and is just too small/weak/soft/perimeter/bad at faceoffs to play that position.

But he's been hyped as a FRANCHICE CENTER and the NEXT MCDAVID/CROSBY so they're going to just keep hammering a square peg into a round hole because to do otherwise would be admitting failure.

Yeah for 4 years. He also averaged 10 points more per year. I remember a lot thought this he was overpaid. Sedin's taking a big discount helped that.

In this cap world, I said it's hard to pay everyone. Shaving that little bit off of Suter's, Blueger, Sherwood contract's difference of getting Joshua back. That's all I'm saying.
