Given the circumstances we’ve faced so far, it IS an impressive start. But the hill just keeps seeming to get steeper.
Reality is that the Canucks are chasing from the Benning bad drafting. Haven't drafted D or developed them over the past 15 or so years aside from Hughes and Tanev. Then massive drop to Hutton and Stecher. Free agency is slim pickings.

5 skaters and a goalie for each team, from 2000 to present.

Canucks one would have some some no brainer and some tough ones. Twins, Hughes, Luongo are all locks. But who rounds out the F and D?

Maybe…

Sedin - Sedin - Naslund/Petey/Miller/Boeser/Kesler/Burrows?

Hughes - Ohlund/Edler/Tanev/Bieksa/Hamhuis/Salo?

Luongo

Might be easier to figure out an all time worst.

I don't know if it's 'right', but I'd bet money it's Sedin-Sedin-Naslund, Hughes-Edler, Luongo.

Kaapo Kakko is on the block again in NY. A former second overall pick who appears to have worn out his welcome in the Big Apple. Any interest from the Canucks? At least he has the size that could help their forward line.

The worst is basically the 2016 Canucks roster. Take your pick

Hard to argue with any of these picks. Obviously the Hall of Famers get in, Edler is there by virtue of how long he played with the team, and Naslund was the captain, 3 time first team all star, and the players' MVP in 2003. You could make the argument for Kesler based on his Selke but otherwise can't see how anyone tops Naslund.

Bertuzzi for 1.5 years was as dominant as anyone I’ve seen in a Canucks jersey. But it was a short lived peak compared to others.
Absolutely. He played at around 270-275 in full gear and could play any game, could beat a defence on the rush wide or find a way through it, was a great passer, and played in the slot like a basketball player in the post -- he'd just keep his back to 1-2 defenders 10 feet from the net, wait for them to commit to a play, and then draw the puck through them to get a shot or dish it off in all the space he created. I've never seen anyone else with the strength and skill to do that. I think most of us feel that if things had gone a bit differently he could have been one of the best power forwards ever.

Bertuzzi in the post-lockout season should have been literally unstoppable and I'm still mad that we didn't get to see that.

They both should be on team Canada because the tournament is stupid and we should just play those guys to prep for the actually important tournament.
Best to not play anyone who doesn’t have a shot at playing in 2026. So does Sid get picked? Likely yes.
No one drafted pre 2010 at this point.

When I look back through highlights from that era, another thing I notice is that even if the Sedins weren't scoring all that much, they were making incredible plays, the goals they did score were beautiful and we probably should have realized they were going to be stars.

My recollection is that they used to score more pretty rush goals.
