Well their aging core (at least Bergeron and Krejci) still had many years of productivity left. Chara had a few as well. But the Bruins did take steps to retool including trading Lucic. I would have to say that the Bruins lucked out in getting Pasta and McAvoy combined with their “aging core” of Bergeron and Krejci being effective into their later 30s. They also made some good trades a long the way like getting Lindholm, the Hampus one.
