That's until you look under the hood and realize that he's ceding chances, shots, and high dangers at an alarming rate. Go read through the Utah game reports, they are not fans of his and complain about his lack of mobility.
Would still take him over forbort

But I think some relatively easy changes could be passed via legislation (or via regulation if there were an actually competent regulator) that could help a lot while still allowing sports betting to be legal.

this is probably a good thing, but i had no idea and just learned it this week so sharing in case there are others that didn't know (and i might just be dumb for not knowing):

i deposited $100 into my bet365 account to bet on the canucks to win the cup after the first period against the flames (lmao) - turns out that $100 is considered a cash withdrawal on the mastercard, so it charged a $5 fee + apparently it incurs interest until it's "paid back" - as in when i pay the statement balance.

for how much gambling is talked about, it's insane that there was no specific prompt. obviously the site and the banks are incentivized to quietly not say anything, but that's where legislation absolutely has to step in and protect consumers with better information.

tl;dr - don't use a credit card to deposit funds into a betting account.

Sure, but in actuality this just oversimplifies the complex issues surrounding gambling ads.
We can't just overlook the impact it has on vulnerable populations.
It's fine to consider both the balance between economic interests and social responsibility, and keep advocating for a healthier balance
My suggestion was to ban gambling ads during daytime hours and during sports broadcasts.

It's a pretty obvious and simple solution.

I think Sports gambling should only be done at sports gambling "casinos" make it a bar event or even just the casino. Online where you can just click one button and lose thousands should be banned or there should be HEAVY limits to how much you can bet.

Gambling addiction has gone through the roof and seeing all the adds on every f***ing intermission break must be hell for those who are trying to recover. I don't care how much money it brings in for the league, it's a f***ing cancer.

It is really just milking the fans of the sport into losing all their money. Also, kids are getting exposed to this toxic sludge too now. f***ing disgrace.

EDIT: MB didn't mean to put you specifically on blast. I just hate sports gambling.

Most of the books have an interac e-transfer option to deposit, which is more reasonable and you can avoid that kind of BS.

This thing seems more scummy on the credit card's part though. Visa/MC treat the deposits at cash advances, rather than a purchase, so they charge more in fees and interest.

But yes, there needs to be more consumer protection. From what I know of the regulated market in Ontario, the regulator (AGCO), does absolutely nothing. The books operate pretty much the same as when it was unregulated/illegal.

I had expected Anaheim to have done more in the offseason to really turn things around.
Verbeek going into his 3rd full season as GM and Murray wasn’t trading away assets before he had to step down. Missed the playoffs since 2019 and have finished last, 2nd last, 3rd last, 5th last, in 4/6 seasons with an 8th and 10th worst spot as well. Plus adding like 3 extra first rounders during that period as well. Should have been time to get better.

Like Montreal have a bunch of inexperienced Dmen in Zell, Mint, Lacombe, Luneau on the roster. Vets are Fowler, Dum, and Gudas. So one each if they pair a vet with a youngster. But no vet is built to handle the big minutes defensively that Lindholm used to for them.

Was surprised to see them so inactive on the FA market this offseason—didn't even pick up useful veteran depth pieces that could help take on tough assignments and eventually be traded. They are really putting all of their eggs into one basket hoping that essentially their entire stable of young players pans out to the 85-90th percentile of their potential all at the same time.

I think they need to jettison Zegras from the team though.

I am here for the downfall of the Preds after their stupid offseason.

The weird thing is that I thought they did pretty well in 2023 to get rid of a bunch of old players on bad contracts (Duchene, Johansen, Granlund ... also Ekholm which was a mistake) and set themselves up in a better cap position to try and re-tool on the fly. Had a pretty good season in 23-24.

And then they absolutely lose their minds and hand out insane contracts to 34 y/o Stamkos and Marchessault and they're right back in an even worse position than they ever were before.
