Just bad luck all around for us. This year will probably be our best chance at a cup out of the next few. So many players outperformed contracts, Hughes entered prime, Miller still in prime, Demko. Injuries f***ed us
Agreed, plus management should of added a winger or two.

Watching the last four teams still standing in these Cup playoffs, the inescapable conclusion is that the Canucks aren't that far away. They could easily have put away the Oilers and given the Stars a lot of trouble.

I'm not sure either the Panthers or Rangers are all that much better either. No wonder Allvin is still upset. It was right there for them, to at least reach the conference finals.

But I was told only Vancouver complained about officiating…

Because they have finally opened their eyes to McDavid diving like crazy. The standard is now different sorry Knob!

We learned this with the twins as well, can’t make the officials look like idiots when they find out it will cost you.

"Complaining about ref" jokes aside, I don't know how anyone in Edmonton has faith in this guy. Absolutely zero interviews/press conferences I've seen from him give me confidence in his knowledge of anything. And sure, he might just be a shy person given he's never been in this position before, but even national media trying to slurp him can only find credit for...putting McDavid, Draisaitl, and Hyman out as a forward line after a sucessful PK.

If he ever wins a cup with Edmonton he's gonna be one of those guys that for some reason stays around for a while because of it, but will ultimately not move the needle at all kinda like Marc Crawford. Why they continue to waste their time with first time coaches is a mystery to me.

Seems like typical Canuck luck. Hopefully we fare better next season.

Eh, I think this was a nice opportunity for us, but if Allvin is as good as we think he is, this is just year 1 of maybe 5/6 for our legit window.

I think we're just getting started, and I'm very excited about the future, as long as management continues to kick ass like they have so far.

I agree this could've been an actual cup run year, but it would've been pretty flukey given all the parts that have changed over the course of a season. Tocchet gets to work (mostly) with this roster another season, Petey plays up to his cap and we get some ELC contributions - we can do a lot better than try to rope-a-dope our way into the SCF.

This was the first season that the team was good since the Sedins era. People may point out to the Blues as an example of a team where everything went right for 6 months to get them the Cup, but they had consistently made the playoffs with their core for a while and won the divisions a couple of times ahead of that run. You'd have to go back to the '06 Canes to find an example of a team that won when surrounded by mediocre seasons, and even then they had core players who had made an ECF run.

Canucks had no offense, no powerplay, were incredibly banged up and had a 3rd string goalie.

There is no opportunity missed. They don’t beat Dallas.
this is true. no matter how you spin it. maybe they win one game with silovs being a wall and the pp clicking. but the pp didnt click.

Boston fans seem to have their brains broken vis a vis Florida over on Twitter. Screeching about dirty hits in the Florida/Rangers series. Sucks now that Campbell isn't around to coddle you guys, huh?

Crawford at least had passion and was emotive. Knobby looks like a mix between Tweak from South Park and Gil from the Simpsons.

Binnington is one of our nations top goaltenders and he looked like total crap this tournament.

This is Canada’s major weakness heading into international competition, the upcoming 4 Nations tournament, and the Olympics. Our goaltending is simply brutal compared to our main competitors. The USA in particular is stacked in net.

If Binnington sees time in net for Canada, we are finished. Our hopes likely rest on Adin Hill getting in there and not giving up the net.

I refuse to believe Binnington is among the top Canadian goalies. I understand that there is a dearth of talent at that position, but my brain won't accept it.

On another note, I hope those rumours of Binner to Toronto end up being true. That douche would fit that city so well.

That would be a Jack Campbell-to-Edmonton level bad acquisition for Toronto.

Toronto should look to sign Markstrom if they’re serious about contending with their current core.

I don't like Binnington whatsoever but his numbers were good this season. Returned to pre-COVID form.

I don't get the ref hard on for Florida, their entire play style makes it look like the refs are incompetent and don't have control over the game.
