Wouldn't mind a Hab win tonight so we can have one more weekend to watch hockey.

I am over it at this point. Even with the Cinderella run by Montreal, it has been really boring. Might be because the Leafs lost, but it has been really slow, boring hockey vs. other years... And the league is okay with that for some reason. Don't even think it has much to do with Covid either, because there have been full (or mostly full) buildings in the US now for a month, so the atmosphere has improved.

So do you consider the Habs a playoff team next year?

Why are some people still going on with this "they won't be a playoff team next year" People said that about the Islanders for how many years now and they keep making it.

Tough division

That's a good question. This year, they only had to do better than Calgary, Ottawa, and Vancouver.

Next year (assuming Ottawa, Buffalo, Detroit, and New Jersey don't improve a bunch), there are two ways:

Finish ahead of one of Tampa, Toronto, or Boston. I think Florida was lucky to be in a weaker division, with even Tampa not playing with a full deck (oops - team). Boston is starting to fade, imo, but still tough.

Take a wild card spot. I imagine Washington, Pittsburgh, and Islanders will be the top three, which means having to finish ahead of all but one of Florida, Philadelphia, Carolina, Columbus, and Rangers. I don't think Philly can be as bad as last year, Carolina and Columbus didn't particularly impress me, and the Rangers looked good mostly by beating up on bad teams.

Of course the two big question marks are Seattle, and Tampa's cap.

Like the Islanders, Montreal seems to be built for the playoffs, but the long, boring grind of the regular season may be tougher. I think they can make it, and I wouldn't be too surprised if they do it by beating out either Boston or Toronto, but I think the wild card route is more likely, and quite possible.

Once the playoffs start, anything can happen. I wouldn't be shocked to see Montreal and the Islanders in the Eastern final.

What's your analysis of the East?

Montreal makes the playoffs next year, easily. Caufield, Suzuki, Kotkaniemi, Romanov and Poehling will be one-year older and better. They got rid of flash in a pan Drouin. This team is on the upswing, big time. Tampa will be a bit weaker, but still the only team to worry about. Boston is getting old. Toronto is talented, but soft.

Whatever happens I am cool with it. It's easy to forget that Tampa is one of our division rivals as well. I hope it goes 7 and someone loses in heartbreaking fashion. f*** both teams. But if MTL loses tonight, I am cool with it too.

f*** mtl, I'll gladly stop watching hockey if it means they don't win a cup.

Hate those guys so much and despite the vast difference in regular season expectations and performances they dropped us Heloise g create history once again.

Go Tampa Go. End this season and let's see how Dubas and the rest go about the most important/pressure filled Franchise season in NHL history

COVID was the best thing to happen to the Habs
Once the divisions go back to normal we’ll see how good this team is

I think it will be very tough for them
I know it sounds crazy since they in cup final but COVID has really helped the Habs lol and I think this series is showing to me that they are still some ways away from this level

Like I said I still don’t see montreal having solutions to score regularly, even in this years playoffs. Boston, Tampa and prob leafs will be tough
I think florida and Carolina are legit
Islanders of course and u said islanders and Habs are built for playoffs well islanders have been one of the better teams for a couple seasons now, until COVID hit Habs are bottom 10, Their upgrades this year dont really change my mind

Senators are improving and I think rangers are gonna start being very revelant

penguins, capitals and who Knows what philly is so I think Habs will have a very hard time but who knows

What would the equivalent "best thing" be for the Leafs? Earthquake? Asteroid? Gangs of killer grandmothers?
Habs we’re bottom 10 team before COVID
Last season were 13 in conference and go to play in phase when they were almost mathematically out of playoffs and got in for 1 round
This season they made up a a Canadian weak division to help them get in
Hard to explain this crazy run outside of injuries and stuff but yeah
Despite this run I haven’t seen much to convince me that if divisions go back to normal I don’t see them getting in
Much like Carolina that made the run and never made the playoffs again until this year

Why does Josh Anderson think he can commit 4x penalties on a play and act surprised when he gets called?

End Montreal tonight.

Tampa in a close out situation roughing up Suzuki and Toffoli. That’s important.

Shots 13-4 Tampa but score 0-0

Price might be bad in the regular season 3 out of the past 4 seasons but in the playoffs he's been the best goalie in 2020 and 2021

Hot take but If the dude wins a cup with this Habs team he's a better playoff performer for the Habs than Patrick Roy

Tampa dominating but not getting a ton of great chances.

Getting out of that period tied is a win for MTL.
