Definitely a team that benefits from the refs willingly ignoring half the rules in the playoffs

I think the NHL cracks down on clutch and grab. They are worried about the entertainment value and that clutch and grab kills it.

Would not be surprised if a lot of slower teams run into major penalty troubles next year. A lot of the stuff that teams like Bruins and Habs have been able to get away with will likely get called, including the playoffs.

I would also not be surprised if ~1/3 of a game is not on special teams TBH. 10 PP's in a game doesn't seem all that unreasonable to me, and I think PP's boost the entertainment value (if the PP team doesn't suck anyways).

The main question is whether game management continues to try and make games "even".

No it’s the idea tavares wasn’t a big loss
People always look at point to determine value but tavares was so huge in playing vs Boston’s top line to even give us a chance in that series
Points or not the guy gives effort even in the playoffs unlike our superstars so yeah I think tavares would have made a big difference in ending montreal and going on a run
It’s why we got him, have 2 top lines to worry about
Montreal put all focus on matthews line and there was little else for montreal to focus on, specially with Keene not making any changes

Ok. I did agree that the need for line juggling might have been a factor, but points? I did mention goals, because my understanding is that scoring more goals than the other team is important.

But I'm not sure about the Marner reference. Are you just pointing out that Tavares, like Marner, has a huge contract, produces lots in the regular season, and disappears in the playoffs? I'm not sure that's fair to Marner, who makes less, produces more, and is scored on less.
