The issue I see is that they did not show up for games 5-7 this year, game 5 last year and games 6-7 the prior year. Clearly something is wrong.

Year - Game - Our Goalie SV% - Their Goalie SV%

2021 - 5 - .867 - .914
2021 - 6 - .903 - .953
2021 - 7 - .909 - .968
2020 - 5 - .905 - 1.000
2019 - 6 - .925 - .917
2019 - 7 - .900 - .970

Isles had 18 shots on goal last night and Vassy had a 1000 SV%. Was it Varlamov's fault they lost 1-0 ?? When your forwards can't get it done, it is not always the goalie's fault.

These are all coin flip games where the difference between the two goalies is basically 1 or 2 saves.

It's not that the goalie can't be better. But the blame lies everywhere.

Every year for as long as I can remember now I've place a $1,000 annual Vegas bet on the Stanley Cup winner prior to the playoffs and usually put the full amount on 1 team and go all in.

This year I hedged me bet a little with $750 riding on TB and $250 on my Leafs (believing they would cruise through to the final 4) and play TB in round #3 and then guaranteed to have some money in the final and both had similar odds entering in as I think they were sitting 4th and 5th.

With the opponent being Montreal this year I'm feeling my TB bet might be paying out, but those pesky Islanders were making me a little nervous there.

Go lightning !!!!

that goal wasn't on Vassy, total system break down sending 3 players into the corner to try and retrieve the puck, didn't hurt that Tampa had 5 players on the ice during the penalty kill, but those are the breaks.......

Varlamov has the third best elimination game SV% in the league this year, the top two in that category are in the finals. I wouldn't blame him for that loss at all, in fact he's the reason they made it so far.

In the case of the Leafs this year though, they outshot the Habs 109 to 83 in the last three games of their series, but Price had a SV% of .945 vs Campbell's .892.

We got out goaltended, plain and simple.

When Nick Suzuki scores more goals than Matthews and Marner combined you didn't lose purely because you got out goaltended. Why would we expect to win the goaltending battles when one team has future HOFer Carey Price making $10M+ while we have a goalie playing well above his pay grade but only making $1.65M. This team isn't built to win goalie battles. It's built to overwhelm you with skill and we lost because we couldn't do it in a playoff environment (just like we couldn't do it in years prior).

But but... Marner said they created alot of plays but the "puck just wouldn't go in the net". Wouldn't it have been great if a reporter told him he had the same problem last 18 post season gamwa and has had the same problem on the powerplay for the past 73 games? Mitch buddy... there is a definite problem here.

If the Leafs got equal goaltending in just one of games 5. 6. and 7, they would have been the ones moving on.

Hey, unlike Freddy, it was Campbell's first kick at the can in the playoffs, so I wouldn't throw him off the bus, but Dubas should make acquiring another 1A/1B a priority as insurance.

Goaltending is the most important factor in winning a cup, so it's not something that should be left up to chance.

I don't get it, they had elite playoff forward Leo Komarov on the top line, how did he not score a goal?

They had more than adequate goaltending in game 6, the leafs just sucked like they usually do in big moments

If the leafs got any production from their 11 million dollar players they move on (which is how the team is built btw, not on the back of a 1.5 million dollar goalie). Especially considering games 5 and 6 were 1 goal, OT victories.

You still have hope in Dubas? The man who has killed the cap. The man who throws away draft picks. How are you supposed to fill out your depth when you have no cap space and no draft picks? Who do we know that will play for the same money as a 20 year old on an ELC? Yep, that's right, the 35 and older club. Oh boy. Step on down grandpa. You could be the next contestant on who wants to play for the Leafs next season.
LOL we had like 12 picks last draft this is such bs..this fan Base is so crazy..one Lucky bounce in the ot games vs montreal and we would have been singing praises to him, now he îs the most hated person în leafs land as if he is the one that choked..Dubas is a bright GM and he will be a top 3 one în the next years..look at Bergevin is he a good GM now that they play the final? No he was always a bad one..did Dubas made mistakes? Yes he did but he îs still growing..he gets to much hate here

Montreal is going to win in 5 or 6 games. People have no idea what they’re watching. This Habs team is the most dominant playoff team since the 2012 Kings. They will finish the job.

Do you really believe the players haven't evolved?

There's a pretty massive difference, IMO, between the 2018 leafs and the 2021 leafs.

Agreed. The 2018 Leafs were much closer to competing for a championship.

Do you honestly believe if this team had a playoff series against 2020 Tampa they would win? Or 2013 Chicago? Or 2014 LA? They’ve had a good run but this is the highest level of hyperbole
