Price.

MTL just hanging on by a thread since the start of the second period.

this is like the Tim Tebow broncos. They are horrible. They have no business being here.

As a huge Broncos fan, I concur. That run with him was complete non-sense and then to win a playoff game on top? At least Price is actually good tho.

Price has played very solid. Biggest thing is that he hasn’t let in a soft goal at a crucial point of a game. But he hasn’t absolutely stolen a game since the first round, and even then, it wasn’t an otherworldly, out of his mind performance either.

so no sweep

Good start for Habs. Still, I don't see them winning over Vegas

At this point, I wouldn't mind if the Leafs just copy the Habs and Islanders system, snoozefest or not, I just want the team to finally get out of the 1st round and if that meant playing a system that will hurt the big 4's offensive numbers, then so be it.
Agree, kills me that many here would rather lose pretty than win ugly. Winners win, losers make excuses “but they play such a boring style of hockey”

Last nights game was easily the most obstruction filled I've seen in the playoffs. Not just Montreal, Vegas was doing it too. I love physical hockey games but I could do without the clutching and grabbing. Wasn't a big fan of it.

It's one of the worst awards out there. Lou was more deserving of being a Finalist/Winner when the Leafs went from last to the playoffs in 2016-2017 and even then he had very little to do with that turnaround. Or even that one time in like 2011 when the Devils made the Finals even though they were not that good of a team and were mostly carried by Brodeur.

Personally, I think the award should go to Carey Price for saving Marc Bergevin's job... Again.

Oh just give him his due.

Not only that, just to see a team battle and refuse to roll over.

Habs go down in a series and they don’t bend over. We were up in a series and bent over at some pushback.

I do still agree that we should’ve come out of the north, but Vegas would’ve swept up. We would not stand up to their physicality.

I would say the same thing if it was Dubas or any other Leafs GM. I have nothing against Lou winning it, and there are other times when he probably should have received nominations/wins when he did not, but the criteria is a joke right now. Results are pretty much the only thing they look at, and at that point you might as well just give it to the guy who wins the Stanley Cup or the President's Trophy. Or which team improves the most from one year to the next.

If the voters are not going to look at the work the GM actually did to push that success, then they should just dump the award altogether. At least with Jack Adams, they look at how well a team does relative to their expectations and team capabilities; not just how well the team does on the whole. Trotz and Ducharme deserve a ton of credit and should be nominated for that award.

I believe this has a lot to do with the composition of players - particularly led by Weber, followed by Chiarot and Edmondson who are both warriors, then complimented by Perry, Andersen, Gallagher, and Romanov who lays the body too. That core has enough snarl and grit and is responsible for where they are now.

It hurts to think we were comparing this team with the 2009 hawks, saying that we'd be a dynasty back in 2017.

We were hyping up this team to be equal or better than Tampa moving forward in 2018.

The Leaf's flat-out suck in the playoffs. Every cliche, narrative people use to discredit our players/team turns out true in the playoffs.

They aren't physical enough, they aren't strong enough, they aren't skilled enough to go against other teams' best pairings. The leafs are a pure regular season tiger. They've had so many failures in the short 5 years since Matthews was drafted it makes it nearly impossible to be excited for this team anymore

I don't want to hear a comparison with any of the other Atlantic playoff teams (outside of maybe Flordia). Tampa, Boston, Montreal are all better built and more suited for winning games in the playoffs than Toronto.

So, was Marner always the Leafs representative on the SNNow splash? Could've sworn it was Matthews before. Don't know who's bright idea it was to make Leafs Nation's most wanted the player to represent the blue & white but whatever.

This team and players deserve no defence in any way shape or form. They can get raked over the coals for all I care.

Isles didn’t start this game on time, lets see if they wake up for the second period?

So hard to be optimistic with this team. The only real milestone I'll be happy for in the regular season is hopefully when Spezza gets his 1000th career point. Outside of that, I don't care how high Matthews, Marner finish in goals/points.

They both proved that dominating the regular season won't charge them up to come out hot and dismantle a trash 1st round opponent.

Hyman leaving sucks as he was a likable player, but he wants to get paid more than he's worth so he can f*** off, don't need more overpaid players.

I don't know what the leaf teams identity is next year.

We aren't a strong/physical team that plays along the boards and cycles well

We aren't the fast/speedy team that could create off the rush and dominate on breakaways (mentally imagining the countless odd-man rushes mikheyev, engvall, simmonds, Kerfoot failed to get even a shot on net hurts)

We aren't a highly PP-reliant team whose PP can will the team to wins due to pure skill

We aren't a trotz styled defensive team who wears down opponents and relies on timely chances.

I hope that Kyle Dubas, Brandan Shanahan, and Sheldon Keefe can decide what our play style, tempo, and definitive features are and hopefully build around players who fit into that. The core four either refine their games to play that style and cut of the fancy dipsey doodling or they should be hearing loud boo's from any rational fan who realizes a selfish player when the see one.
