I've been watching pretty much every series in the playoffs and the compete level is just wild. Why couldn't the Leafs show some of that same compete level, determination, do whatever it takes to put your bodies on the line to win? I mean, heart and soul these others teams are playing with and tons of passion.

Embarrassing seeing this and then seeing what the Leafs did in games 5 through 7.

There are sayings that summarize your feelings.

Barzal gets overlooked a lot in those vs Marner debates because his regular season numbers have looked pretty average since his rookie year when he played behind Tavares (ironically enough his career high is still higher than Auston Matthews).

Part of the reason is he's in that Islanders system and it's not built to generate glamorous numbers. Also worth noting that in the years leading up to the 2015 draft, there was all the Connor McDavid hype for first overall, but Mathew Barzal was the McDavid of the West and projected to go 2nd. So he's got ridiculous pedigree as well. One thing you also have to love about his game is his explosive skating and speed.

Also, also worth noting is when the Leafs picked Marner they also looked at Rantanen, Werenski and Barzal.

If Marner had that aspect to his game I would be a lot more confident in his evolution process moving forward.

That draft was legendarily bad for Boston. I can't even imagine if they ended drafting one or two of the next 4 guys that went after their 3 straight picks.

Lou hockey vs Dubas hockey. Night and day. Series tied at 2.

Lou Lam has won 5 playoffs series and counting these past 3 years since replaced as GM in Toronto.

Leafs last playoff win 17 years ago.

Sometime Life just doesn't seem fair. :(

PS. Lou Lam turned over a 105 point franchise best team record that finished 6th overall upon departure.

I think he was talking more about Noesen and Suomela

They played 1 regular season game between them. Jeff is grasping at straws IMO.

Would gave been nice to win the North to see how we match up with the winner of the Bruins/Isles series but alas our best skill forgot to show up.

I can’t even imagine our players in a 2nd round playoff battle with Boston/NY like what I’m watching. The way it’s played.
I’m thinking that’s an issue.

The leafs took the bruins to game 7 twice.

Life is fair. We had him. Decided we knew more about hockey than anyone else in the room and decided to dump him. This is why we can't have nice things.

In the end, your best players need to be your best players. Bottom 6 players running around hitting people won't make a major impact

Those are the point totals of Kucherov, Stamkos, Killorn, Point, and Hedman after 10 games. Tampa has 14 PP goals. Did the Leafs even total 14 PP goals in their final 30 games + playoffs?!?

The leafs lost 2 series under Lamoriello, who wasted picks on f***ing Boyle and Plekanec.

If you pine for Lamoriello, you're just trolling.

just lurking... ik there is bad blood between our fan-bases at times, but I appreciate the kudos :)

I agree with the sentiment here that Barzal is a perimeter player but that isn't necessarily always a bad thing because he creates space for others... he is also pretty good at scoring goals when he isn't going for the fancy pass

New coach + goalie, maybe a Pageau or Cizikas type (the latter is a free agent soon :naughty:) you guys should go deeper. Not to mention it really seemed like the hockey gods bitch-slapped you with the Tavares injury... his absence SURELY was a difference maker. I have seen him score very clutch goals in the past, I am positive a healthy JT would have competed his guts out for you guys for the remainder of the series. Anyways im drunk off to bed sleep well my maple-syrupy friends

Pretty much

hmmm actually yeah maybe the solution is to double down on the skill. I honestly have no idea how to fix your team. on paper it is already very good

I am glad I am not in that kind of high pressure situation tbh lol your guys' media is ferocious

I don't think we should compare the wasted picks between Lou and Kyle to be honest.
