Tampa is everything we ever wished we could be. Getting to the 3rd round is like a formality for them at this point sigh

I guess that’s the difference between a team filled with winners and a team constructed by and filled with losers.

Also, man did Stamkos ever make the right call during UFA lol. His career would be dead and buried if he came here.

We’re the Minnesota Wild of the 2010s. Good enough to make the playoffs but never truly a contender, stuck behind actual Cup contending teams. But even then, at least the Wild managed to make it out of Round 1 every so often.

Even the 1980s Leafs had won first round a few times.

Canes don't have killer instinct.

Tampa destroyed Carolina with 3 PPGs...it's pitiful with all the talent in the Leafs that they struggle with the PP...pitiful...I guess that's what happens when Matthews is pretty much your only shooter on PP1...don't understand this soft coaching of not stacking PP1 with all your capable shooters, it's not like your shooters can't pass the puck...gotta keep accommodating and appeasing your muffin shot artists like Marner and Thornton on PP1.

One of the only good things about this season being over is never having to see Thornton on the PP ever again. For a guy with over a 1000 assists or whatever his vision was complete trash.

???? In Stamkos first 5 seasons he missed 4 of 5 times. At this point in his career. Stamkos had 1 run but missed the playoffs 2 straight years.

they picked 3rd overall in 2013. They picked drouin over jones.

sure u would love that

True, but the leadup to those playoff surprises were Godawful, like astonishingly so. I don't know why I looked up the Leafs 80s seasons but they were truly on a whole other level of terrible.

Between 77-78 and 92-93 the Leafs had a hell of a time even getting 30 wins in a season, much less finishing above .500. My god those must have just been miserable seasons to sit through.

What a 2nd period in Tampa Bay with 8 goals ..

Tampa's big guns Kucherov (2 goals) + Stamkos (2) + Point (1) almost had as many goals in this one game than Matthews + Marner + Nylander = 6 total had in the entire 7 game series.

Ya, Leafs should’ve offered Stamkos more than $11 mil back in 2016. But hey, lower taxes in Florida.

What do I have to do with this? I’m sure Stamkos isn’t regretting his decision is what I said. Keep getting defensive though you big baby.

because the team full of winners were massive disappointments at this time in their rebuild?

year 5 were bottom 3 and picked a bust. Passed
On Seth jones for drouin

Year 9 miss playoffs.

Year 11. Biggest choke in NHL history.
Year 12-13. Team full of winners that the loser leafs can never dream to be.

Sounds legit.

Taylor Hall joins Boston, playing physical gets in fight with Mayfield.

Muzzin comes to Leafs, stops hitting. Forwards stop forechecking hard.

Identities, success and failure.

Year 5 they were decimated with injuries. Then made the cup finals and went and to the third round in 2016. 2018 one win away from the Cup Final again.

They got embarrassed in 2019 and backed up their words and won the cup. Our guys get embarrassed year after year after year and come back and do it again. How many times do they need to be humiliated before a first round win isn’t too much to ask? Before they have some pride? Keep believing that it will change, it won’t.

I still have the Lightning as favorites for the Cup, even with all these Avs bandwagoners. Kucherov is what Marner thinks he is. He runs that PP from the same spot that Marner tries to.

So injuries are an excuse for them? That’s ok? What about Toronto? I don’t give them a pass for muzzin. Matthews on 1 wrist all year Tavares and foligno. I guess you do?

you are a calling year 12 team winners. Year 5 team losers. Tampa missed 4 of 5 years then made one of the worst draft misses in the decade.

No one knows if the leafs will do it.but they are a heck of a lot closer than Tampa was at the same time.

4 of 5 years missing. Imagine if the leafs were bottom 3 5 years into the Matthews era

I haven't figured out how to watch these games were I want both teams to lose. I begrudgingly prefer the islanders who are possibly the most boring team on the planet.

Islanders counterattack only looks somewhat dangerous when it's Barzal or Beauvillier.

I don't know how Tavares would fit with this team but they'd probably be a true cup contender if he re-signed with them. As of now, they're nothing more than 2nd round pests.

I don't know if he's ever fought but Hall has always been physical.

He even had a hit on New Jersey that makes the Scheifele hit look like a pillow fight.

When that's your first fight in a decade, you can call that the Bruins affect. We just might run into them next season. That won't be fun. Tampa would probably be worse.

Carolina getting shredded by Tampa could be good for having more disgruntled offseason dance partners.

Not Muzzin, but guys coming in on short term deals near league minimum can't just walk into the room and dictate how heavy the team is going to play physically. That physical buy in can only happen when players at the top like Matthews decides that making big hits like he did on Brendan Gallagher are a normal part of the game and Mitch Marner contributes an average level of physical engagement on a 50/50 battle expected of any NHLer.

So when spezza fought for the first time in a decade. Was that the bruins effect?
