First it’s the trap, now it’s the choke...

could at least give us a little credit.

I would say the Habs got better against the Leafs down the stretch in the series, so I give you that, but your team also let the Leafs tied the game in games 5 and 6 after taking 3-0 and 2-0 leads, but the Leafs ended up shooting themselves in the foot with those bad giveaways in OT...in game 6 in particular, the Habs were outshot 13-2 in overtime...it was completely lopsided...the Habs scored on their second shot because Dermott made a bad play at his own blueline. The Leafs didn't show up to play in game 7.

In order to contain the Leafs, the Habs trapped and were very opportunistic on turnovers. And you can't argue that the Leafs choked, every Leaf fan would agree they choked, even the most optimistic. Most teams in the history of sports don't lose a series being up 3-1.

You can’t trap when you’re down lol

but for real, we aren’t trapping. Good defence doesn’t mean trapping. We play good defensive hockey. We jump pucks and go the other way. We forecheck well. We have a great goalie.

Vegas we can match up with. They are actually quite similar to us though have more prime high end talent. Same with Boston who we know well. Tampa and Avs would be tough.

I think you drank too much kool-aid. Beating the Leafs or the Jets is not much of an accomplishment. Vegas would bend over the Habs in a second and it's not even close.

The Avs had no business being in that game or even winning game 2. Vegas just came at them wave after wave. But lack of finish, which has plagued Vegas these last two playoffs, almost cost them again.

We'll see how the Avs respond but if Vegas starts scoring consistently, look out.

The Leafs absolutely did not show up in game 7, but I think the Habs deserve some credit for giving them no time or space whatsoever.

Avs are tremendous hockey team, but you have to admire the compete of the Vegas Knights.

If Leafs are looking for "killer instinct" and a role model of what that might look like this series is a good example.

One of the silver linings of Leafs being out, is now a hockey fan can sit back with no pressure/stress, and watch some outstanding playoff hockey being played around the league and still can get ones hockey fix in.

The Habs took away Matthews space, and with Tavares out, that left only Willy and Spezza that could really score any goals. If you're looking for Mikheyev, Engvall, Kerfoot, Marner, or any of the washed up vets to score, you'll be doing a lot of waiting. Matthews needs to try harder, stars get focused on all of the time and they still come through.

Taylor Hall .. 50% retained for a 2nd round pick.

2020-21 Boston Bruins
Regular season .. 16 games 8 goals 6 assists 14 points
Playoff season ..... 8 games 3 goals 2 assists 5 points

Talk about great trade deadline return for a 2nd round pick.

They reported during the last BOS/NYI game that Bruins and Hall are in talks of signing a long term deal.

Habs strategy for every win: skate in cement, bore the hell out of the every opponent by sucking the soul of hockey of them and then pray to god Price doesn’t let in a softie.
Their top offensive player is Tyler Toffoli. And we lost to them. When we beat the Red Wings in 1993 we beat a team with: Yzerman, Fedorov, Ciccarelli, Sheppard, Carson, Primeau, Lidstrom, Coffey, and Kozlov. And this sad sack of losers loses to Toffoli. Total pretenders.

Status quo if you’re a Leafs fan

Going to be hard for us to win next season when TB gets their star players for less money and Boston continues being great at building teams.

Hopefully Tampa doesn't have Kucherov sit out the regular season on LTIR, and then insert him into the playoff lineup without any cap consequence...:sarcasm:

I am starting to believe that the North division actually sucked as much as everyone said during the season. I can't see either Montreal or Winnipeg winning a single game come round 3 and that is an indictment to me on how terrible the Leafs and Oilers are if they can't even advance that far. Montreal is a bad team and wouldn't even be in the playoffs in a normal year.

it is a normal year…we started with tons of hope and expectation and our hope ended in game 7 of round 1… It is a normal year!

They'll all take a turn. Hedman has been "dealing with something all season" Apparently. I'd expect a 10 month recovery time but hopefully he'll be good to go for the playoffs in 2022...

Uh oh! AM34 nominated of the Lady Byng trophy has Oilers fans knickers in a twist? You don’t say!

riveting commentary as always down there.

I’m surprised Oilers didn’t give back their nine wins against Ottawa to be considered in the lottery draft. They are perennial place holders at the lottery draft.

Watch him get nominated for the Selke too. They'll lose their minds!

We’re the Minnesota Wild of the 2010s. Good enough to make the playoffs but never truly a contender, stuck behind actual Cup contending teams. But even then, at least the Wild managed to make it out of Round 1 every so often.

Every nhl game should have 10 goals scored.

The excitement level between this game and that sleep inducing habs jets one last night is a universe apart.
