They need a retool. They’ve played a lot of hard hockey.
A re-tool may be possible, but they would have to start by dealing Stamkos at the deadline this year and using his cap space next year to rebuild some of their forward depth. If they really want to be bold, dealing Hedman would also be an idea since he only has one year left on his deal and it would be crazy to resign him given how much wear and tear he has on his body. The current iteration of the Lightning, even with Vasi, are probably barely a playoff team at this point.

If they trade Hedman, they may as well rebuild it all. Fortunately for them the Atlantic is weak this year and they’ll be battling Det and Toronto for a spot.

ETA Kane to Detroit.

Ottawa gets Florida riled up and when they get riled they are a fun team to watch.
Yeah, too bad they may be too tired to be riled up tonight. Would love to see the Leafs win by running them out of the rink rather than embarrassing them on the scoreboard but I'll take one of the two.

The Leafs don’t have a player in their system that hates losing. Not one.

Kane signing with the Red Wings.
It could mess up their MoJo.

It's more that I have to hear about how dangerous Tampa will be now that Vasi is back, despite no one acknowledging that he has been mediocre for at least a couple of years now.
Vasilevsky was +25.3 GSAx last year - 6th best in the league. And was even better the year before, and had a dominant playoffs that year.
He may start to decline, but he certainly has not been "mediocre for at least a couple of years now".

What a ridiculous thing to say.

Not sure what's going on with Corey Perry but if he and Chicago mutually agreed to part ways would you sign him at league minimum if given the chance?

I think this is pretty much how every fan/team will view the situation.

He did nothing wrong? Yes.

He did do something wrong? No.

Thing is, anyone that has gotten this surgery that plays in the NHL havent lasted past 40 games played (and they looked horrible).

I don't think he'll be worse than he was last year.

He looked like he was half engaged and was only able to poach points waiting at the opposition blue line.

I thought he just got his hips shaved?

I haven't read much about what's going on with him to be honest. But last I heard it was just hip resurfacing. That's a pretty common surgery, especially for goalies.

I'll be the first to admit I don't know anything about it, but the one or two articles I read suggested it was a fairly routine operation with modest recovery time.

Even still, at his age I wouldn't expect him to be hitting 100 point seasons again anytime soon.

That doesn't sound very optimistic for him.

I never really looked into it. Just read a couple articles on Kane out of curiosity and boredom. Nothing detailed like that article was.

If that's the expectation for Kane I guess we shouldn't expect much from Murray after his hip surgery either.

All depends on the type of surgery. Last year Marchand had double hip surgery but I believe it was for the muscles, he seems to have recovered fine. The hip resurfacing though, has been a killer.

Murray had something called bilateral hip surgery so it's not the same either.

I don't know which is more serious, but I would bet on Kane returning a better player relative to his former self than Murray.

Not that I thought a healthy Murray was good either mind you.

Detroit probably makes more sense as a destination for Kane than Buffalo did (current standings, DeBrincat).

The surgery that he had zero people have come back from properly

He could be the first. They take your entire hip out of its socket. Add metal and reattach it
