If anyone in that organization needs message being sent, it should be the players on the management
After that non-sense they pulled hiring Babcock and make the team go through that idiocy, they don't have a leg to stand on

At least Columbus has Patrik Laine, who flat out said he wouldn't kiss everybody's ass. That counts for something, right?

I think it's pretty hard to defend Dorion here.

Norris should have been moved to LTIR so they could sign Pinto. If they have to put Norris retroactive to beginning of the season it will look even worse. Starting the year with only seventeen skaters while a twenty goal scoring centre sits because of cap mismanagement is a hard to pill to swallow for the fans of any team.

I can only imagine what Andlauer is thinking right about now.

For years I've been hoping Ottawa was gonna contend for a playoffs spot while the Leafs were gonna contend for a cup. Instead both these teams have done nothing but let their fans down. It's not as much of a letdown anymore as it used to be.

But still a let down nonetheless.

But, but, but... the summer of Pierre!

They could've used Pinto last night.

Can’t wait to see how the “McDavid always takes accountability and our star players don’t” crowd responds to this.

If any of our guys had a post game presser equivalent to this after an 8-1 shelling we’d never hear the end of it. This brutal.

Did Nic Robertson went to become a CNN reporter after failing to make the Leafs? I swear I heard that name on CNN

Oh no, the system and league have broke him. I don’t want him sign with the Leafs anymore, lol.

It's a crime against hockey what the Oilers have done to that poor boy.

But it does make one roll their eyes thinking back to some of those summer threads where it was claimed everything he did was golden. When he's a human like the rest of them and sometimes the effort just isn't there

Oilers bought their own press over the summer. I love the complete 180 that sniveling rat Mark Spector pulled. Funny how all the articles he writes after the Oilers are humbled never include any snide comments towards the Leafs. I f***ing hate that guy.

But then again, we don't have McDavid here. The same presser is not really the same with Marner instead of McDavid is it?

Ottawa is gonna take the LTIR burden from us to recoup the Murray retention, I can smell it.

Does that actually work?
I don’t think reacquiring the player removes the salary retention from the books. But it’s a pretty weird and unique situation so I would need someone more well versed on the cap to get into those details.

Also in that situation what’s in it for Toronto? Because of Muzzin’s contract we will be in LTIR all year anyway even if we moved Murray somehow. For us to give Ottawa a way out of their cap problems I’d want something in return even if it’s just a late round pick

I'm not too sure, but in this hypothetical I would assume they just.. take Muzzin as well, since he is also expiring after this season and contracts should be insured.

But yes, they would have to at least throw a pick our way, but it's kind of a mutually beneficial thing so it wouldn't be anything crazy.

I’m not sure how it works but if it’s as easy as sending back Murray would erase their retention and they could LTIR him we’d need one hell of a sweetener. No reason to help Ottawa out of their mess.

Muzzin would just further complicate things. As he is now an employee of the team in an off ice roll I don’t think the league would be cool with him working for us while drawing a pay cheque from another team as a player.

Pronger had to wait till his contract ended with the Coyotes to take a job with the Panthers.

But sure if all that was allowed and it was actually possible I’d gladly move both of our full season LTIR players to Ottawa for no sweetener as it would allow us to start accruing cap space once Timmins was healthy

I wasn't sure if this was allowed so I looked it up.

Yes, they absolutely can trade for Murray back.

If a team retains salary on a trade, they cannot reacquire that player for one year from the date of the transaction, unless the contract ends prior to one year.

If they are willing to take Muzzin and Murray's LTIR of the Leafs hands I wouldn't be too greedy on the return if I was the Leafs.

I mean, let's face it, Ottawa already paid Toronto to take Murray in the first place.
