Foligno will have one job and he'll know exactly how to perform it.

With the cap going up so little, the Hawks could have just traded for a bad contract, got a pick to take on the cap space, and that player would probably contribute more than late career Nick Foligno.

A deal like this might help them in the future if they need something from the Bruins. Also Foligno plays a rough game and they need a few guys like that in their lineup.

Blackwood was going to be non-tendered if he wasn't traded, so I don't think this is a precursor to anything. This is getting an asset out of a guy who was likely available for nothing in a week anyways.

They have Vanecek and Schmid. Could still go after Hellebuyck, but moving Blackwood is totally independent of that.

This is is his second contract. He just finished his ELC, playing 3 years in Tucson, I, tbh, am surprised they re-upped him, and would be more surprised if he gets called up, but they obviously like him

In division trades are the hardest to make. Especially with a direct competitor.

Colorado just so well managed.

When we started rebuilding, I was hoping it would be more like Colorado's build. More well rounded, and the players bring more to the table.

His agent already said SJS was not signing him.

And that he has interest from other teams...

Although I think the 2nd part is probably more posturing than anything. I don't think people are going to be turned off by his religious stance, but he is 35 and was really bad last year (even accounting for the team). The UFA market does suck for goalies this year, but there are enough passable backups that guys like Jones and Reimer should probably be left on the outside looking in unless they want to be #3's.

You haven't been hearing that from me. IDK why anyone would want Gibson right now unless Anaheim is paying to dump him, and at that point, they may as well just keep him unless their owners desperately want the money off of the books. They need someone to pair with Dostal anyways and there is always somewhat of a chance that Gibson turns it around. It is not like it can really get any worse.

Does anyone think TB would have traded him to the Leafs - a direct competitor - for a 2nd even if they had one? It's Montreal's second too.

People need to take a deep breath here. The level of toxicity in here hurts everyone.
