Out of pure curiosity who do you think will have more points (goals and assists / points combined ) next year Leafs core 4 or Boston's perfection line with Taylor Hall as their 4th?

It was something I was thinking about when posters mentioned the Bruins and anticipated struggles and decline.
in the regular season or playoffs? :sarcasm:

Regular season, because I think the answer to that question might be helpful in deciding the final order of the Atlantic standings as to who finishes ahead Toronto or Boston.
yeah I know what you were getting at, it's a interesting question, combine that with who gives up the least goals against and you'll have your answer imo.

Part of my thinking is this Perfection line + Hall = $25.5 mil cap hit verses Leafs core 4 = $40.5 .. Boston has a $15 mil advantage in terms of cap consumption to use throughout their remaining roster.

So if the Boston 4 outscore the Leafs 4 or its close and Boston GA is generally always top 5 in the league annually and ahead of Leafs then I don't see how Boston doesn't finish ahead.

For the Leafs really to not come behind TB an Boston its really going to be all about how Leafs core 4 compare statistically against those teams top 4.

The Leafs core 4 verses Florida is where I see the Leafs perhaps vaulting ahead based on outproducing Barkov, Huberdeau etc to hold on to 3rd.

Last years goals against #5OA Boston 136 , #6OA Tampa Bay 146, #7 Toronto 147 and Florida #8 @ 153 GA. So defensive these teams finished 5-8 overall..

So its really down the offenses and pretty much the big players on those teams as a rough gauge where Leafs need a big year from their players to make this interesting..

lots of eggs in one basket, it's why I don't think this ahlf the cap for 4 players will ever work, and that's not taking injuries into account either.

That's why every year the fall of the Boston Bruins is predicted but when Bergeron, Marchand, Pasta and now Hull which make all between $6.0- $6.8 mil and all less than Nylander and produce at such an elite level that as long as they stay healthy , they have some much advantage due to their cap consumption and spending to spread throughout their depth that its hard for the Leafs and others to make up ground.

Not until their stars need new deals can I see Leafs pulling ahead unless Leafs core 4 really knock the cover off and outscore them significantly.

Yeah that Foligno-Coyle-one-season-wonder-Haula line has me shivering. Wish we had the cap space to unleash this monster on the league.

If you think quality players are just sitting there for Boston to use their extra cap space on such that these extra players are significantly better than other teams depth, you are so out of touch with the league.

Torts to ESPN.

While I'm not a fan of his coaching style I think he could excel in a media role. He's definitely got some firm opinions he isn't afraid to share

He was with TSN between Vancouver and Columbus, no?

Devils sign Tatar, thank god Dubas couldn't afford this playoff choker.........

Pelech gets a nice payday .. lot of term and solid AAV for a strictly defensive d-man. Career high of 21 points.

He does very well on that team though and in that system.

His extension will push things up if anything. Man does not have much of an offensive game and has had one season (last year) which justifies anywhere close to that price tag.

Always be wary of great defensive d-men who play on a great defensive team.

Career high of 21 points.

Wonder which Hall the Bruins will get? He'll be 30 in November.

Bergeron 36, Marchard 33, Hall 29/30, Pasternak 25, Craig Smith 32 (Sept), wonder if we'll see some new blood in their line-up capable of producing points?

When is Rask supposed to be recovered from his surgery? January or February and then get into game shape?

Ullmark better be the real deal.

run over to the Islanders board and tell them how Lou got bent over , there under the impression this is an extremely team friendly deal

I don't see them even signing Rask at this point. They have a gaping hole at 2c they have to deal with first. And even when that happens, good luck getting Rask for like ~2-3m or whatever they have left.
