Parise scored his 1st as an Islander, sweet shortie.

Bet he's glad to get that monkey off his back.

I only just learned tonight watching a bit of Florida-Colorado that Andrew Brunette is now a head coach in the NHL, on an interim basis. I always thought there was mix-up that Walz ended up in the booth and Bruno behind the bench, because the latter has one of the best personalities in Wild history.
Andrew Brunette, head coach. Good on him.

I'm starting to believe that even if the NHL doesn't pull out of the Olympics, many players will choose not to go. Imagine Kaprizov testing positive in Beijing and then being stuck there for 5 weeks.

Is that the actual plan? Can't see that going over with any player, and i don't blame them.

My favorite player, old man Ovechkin, leading the league in points and ES points too.

I couldn't have known my guy would age like THIS twelve years ago.

I am absolutely thrilled.

The preds have won 5 in a row, have 5 players on pace for at least 70 points, have a solid d-core, and have a potential vezina winner in net. I think they're certainly as setup to make a run as anyone.

It is hard to figure out the west because the two teams that were supposed to be elite (Colorado and Vegas) have question marks while some teams that were supposed to be mediocre are playing well, like Nashville and the Wild. I think this year I am not going to be convinced anything is going to happen until it does. The west is wide open.

I'm interested to see how VGK gets under the cap once Eichel is activated.

Yeah, that is their big question mark. We still have no idea what a playoff Vegas roster will look like.

I think for Colorado the issue is Kuemper. He has the talent but he doesn't seem to be mentally strong enough to be "the guy" on a team that is expected to be good. He was good for the Wild when he was first called up but then fell apart as soon as he was put in a bigger role, got his game back together in Arizona, which was another place where nothing was expected, and is now having issues in Colorado.

saw a report that Marchessault is the one likely to be shopped to make room for eichel to come off ir.

Saw this as well but I am curious still how they'll fit him even when/if they move Marchessault's $5M... Right now, they have just over $2.5M of space and that includes Pacioretty on the IR along with his $7M.

EDIT: I was wrong. Patches is not on the long term IR, just the normal IR. But Martinez does have his $5.25M on the LTIR

I wouldnt be surprised to see Martinez shopped if he cant fit. either late off season or early this season there was a few rumblings about him possibly being traded or shopped.

The Panthers are destroying everything in sight that it almost makes me hope they lose in the first or second round just to watch the chaos unfold.

1 goal and 8 pts through 30 games for Parise. What are the chances another team offers him a contract next season, or will he call it a career?

I think the East set for their 8 Playoff teams. 8 teams with .650+ p% and the rest are .500 or lower.

I think the West had 4 teams from the Central locked in (COL, MN, NSH, STL) and 1 from the Pacific (VGK). So far only 4 teams are out in the West (AZ, CHI, VAN, SEA). 7 teams in the mix for 3 Playoff spots.
