Well, if you want to make assumptions, yes. But, I think that was a few seasons ago- possibly even 2019.

If we're making assumptions, it's probably every year, but I thought the video was after their Cup win in 2018

And they waited until februari this year to put him on player assistance program. Very strange indeed.
Well, I hope he's feeling better now.

If I was a team with cap, wouldn’t be a bad idea to pick him up & trade him to another team with 50% retention.

I feel like if he had any value Washington would have done this instead of waiving him

Ruff fired in New Jersey. That 5-1 loss to LA was probably too much for the GM.

Can't believe that they replaced him with Travis Green.

I am surprised he lasted until now this season. I thought he would have been gone around X-mas.

Ruff treating Holz no different than Evason and Hynes with Rossi. What’s with these idiots burying their talented young kids.

L. Hughes and Mercer are the same age as Holtz and L. Hughes (d-man) is younger. The good young talent is getting the minutes in NJD.

Other than draft position Holtz doesn't have much going for him, so he's playing in a sheltered role until he figures out the NHL. I'm disappointed he hasn't been better. I was really high on him his draft year.

Yah except that’s not what’s going on here. Ruff was burying Holtz for mistakes thay Vets make every game. The kid is gonna score 20 goals playing 10 minutes per night with scrubs. He has talent , and the people in NJ wanted Ruffs head for how he’s handled Holtz. Identical to Evason and Fiala too.

More of the "coaching staff hates young players" crying that goes on here even when it's disproven by other young players getting time.

Who does Holtz replace in the top-6; Hughes, Hischier, Mercer, Meier, Toffoli, or Bratt? He's on the o-zone start bottom-6 line. Putting him on the d-zone start bottom-6 line is setting him up for failure.

Hughes has been hurt for most of the year and the rest of that group was pretty terrible in his absence. Like I said , go read the NJ fans opinions and the beat writers opinions.

Hughes has missed like 15 games. The real argument would have been for Holtz to take Meier's RW spot when he was out. Hamilton is the one that has been out most of the year for NJD.

Why do I give 2 craps about what the NJ fans say? Fans say stupid stuff all the time.

I mean to original comment that started this was train was:

I refuted that this is what had been done in NJD with 2 similar age FWDs and 1 younger d-man not being buried. Same thing I did with with the MN coaching staff not too long ago.

Plain and simple the young talented player need to be better than the player ahead of them in the lineup and they'll get more ice time. Holtz isn't "better" than the top-6 in NJD.

Don't get me wrong coaches do dumb things, but Holtz not getting a spot in the top-6 is fine with the FWDs NJD has. Holtz is just NJD's shiny new toy, same as Rossi is with MN. Logic simply doesn't matter when people have the feels.

Plain and simple , you’re wrong. Holz 5 on 5 production says he should supplant someone in their top 6. your argument is weak and not supported by logic , the eye test from those that watch or the on ice metrics.

The Sabres are apparently taking calls on Middelstadt. Is he someone we should pursue?

To me, he seems to be in the mold of Ek, not skill or play style wise but in that he is a damn good 2C but not the high end 1C the team needs.

I don’t particularly care he’s a MN boy.

What would it cost? Would people be upset if Rossi was part of the package?

I don't particularly care too much if Rossi gets traded for a solid return (and I really like Rossi). I would, however, be upset if Rossi was in a package with Mitts as the targeted return.

He’s due for a significant raise & I believe Rossi has the higher ceiling.

There’s only two types of players I’m targeting in a package deal that includes Rossi:

22-26 year old right-handed forward that is near PPG & signed long-term @ <$6.5M

Left-handed Brock Faber

Yes. Wanted him last summer. Was my pick to be the best chance to have a Zibanejad-type surge.

Not sure on the Rossi part of it, but looking at things, he'd mostly likely have to be involved if we don't want to give up somebody like Yurov (and I don't).
