Make my day.
Does it? Vanek is scoring with and without Hodgson. Hodgson not so much. Hodgson meanwhile is the main defensive presence on his line considering he's a center. The fact is that the truth is somewhere in the middle, both in GA and points.

The thing that stands out is assists. Hodgson had 2 assists before picking up 2 secondary assists today.

Vanek and Pominville are driving that show and Hodgson is going to want to get paid for it.

are those not supposed to count or something

They're supposed to indicate that if anyone was ready to jump and say he's performing so well! That he has also benefited from circumstances of luck. Creating a goal out of nothing, starting and finishing a play =/= finishing off a chance unbeknownst to the player. But, he's been in the right place at the right time.

Seriously? Again...all the blame and none of the credit. You'd think Hodgson were some talentless scrub here.

He's a very green #1 on that team, of course he isn't driving the offense. If he's keeping up and not hindering his two extremely productive linemates then he's filling a role many NHLers cannot. Look at Brendan Morrison on the WCE, sometimes it isn't about being an elite player, sometimes the fit is more important.

Hodgson and his linemates are shooting 11%, which isn't really extraordinarily high considering who his linemates are. Hodgson himself is shooting 17%, but he looks like a guy that might be a 12-14% shooter in his career. He's generating a good amount of shots (3+ per game), and he's an even player, despite the fact that he has a PDO barely over 900 and the opposition is shooting a ridiculous 19.4% at ES when he's on the ice.

Hodgson's underlying numbers are underwhelming, for sure, but that line is getting great results for the most part. I think Hodgson should be far down on the list of things the Sabres are worrying about.

My point still stands, how much would you pay Hodgson because he's an RFA at the end of this year? Do you pay him as PPG 1C?

IMO you never worry about that. If that line is producing with him on it, he's worth what the market sets for someone producing similarly.

You guys are staring down the same issue, by the way.

Kassian has nice hands and can win position. Really good fit where he is.

5 of 19 is a lot more impressive than 5 of 27, especially considering one is a year older. Let's see how he does when Vanek cools down to his usual pace rather than the ridiculous 19 points in 8 games.

I don't like this "year older" crap. CLEARLY ever player have different growth curve yet people keep comparing Kassian to Hodgson last year. If you're going to do that shouldn't you take into consideration Hodgson basically lost a year in development..

So many people are just wanting to see Cody fail, and are seeing what they want to see.

He's producing like Kassian, in a similar situation being put with 2 all stars, yet look at the different interpretations.

I think he's doing reasonably well. A bit in over his head, but that's obvious.

blah blah. You have me confused with a Hodgson hater...........

I'm just sick of reading about him from fanboys that can't let it go. I don't understand why it isn't being moved to an appropriate thread when constant Cody crying and one up-manship derails most threads. I was a mod I'd take nearly every Cody post and move them to the thread dedicated for it "EX-CANUCKS" where it belongs..................

^ Well, it is considered 'Around the League', so unfortunately those who can't stomach it don't really have a choice so... :dunno:

Hockey isn't about class, neither is the internet.

Yeah, when you put both together you get a forum full of posters like us. :sarcasm:

I love seeing Buffalo lose.
..why? Buffalo is about as inoffensive and vanilla as any team in the league. They're a small market in another conference and are also our expansion cousins. I can't think of a reason to dislike the Sabres.

hodgson has his share of over the top fanboys but i don't see any fanboyish type comments in the last few pages, this is a thread about stuff that happens around the league and last i checked he is in fact part of this league and thus any comments on his play should be expected

Except for the obvious one. They are not the Canucks!

You're omitting one KEY difference. One set of "allstars" is producing actually at a rate like "allstars" produce. Now, I suppose that might be due to the center (I wouldn't make that argument myself). Kassian has as many points (or more) than either Sedin. He's not merely leeching points; he's carrying that line.
