Probably a decent bit. You can shut down contact between teams and agents of players that are on other teams but you absolutely can't stop players from being in contact with each other. And those would be the 4 good teams that key USA guys are all part of, so makes all the sense in the world that those would be the 4 destinations.

How things play out with Matthews in Toronto will be interesting. It's clear that he wants out if things keep trending the way they are, but he also seems much more like a "I want the spotlight" type of guy which... Yeah Carolina and Minnesota straight up aren't that.

Matthews will end up in Vegas to play with Marner again.

I'll say it again.
American players want nothing to do with playing in Canada. They don't want the taxes or the laws of the place. Period.
Sooner than later, the only way you'll get an American player on a Canadian team is to draft them, or trade them against their will. Any top tier american player that can dictate where they play in any way will not play in Canada

Is there a limit to how far in the future you can trade picks in the cba?

I don't think so?

NBA doesnt seem to, the Paul George trade in 2019 included a 1st round pick this year. Think about this, some 20 year old kid about to be drafted by OKC in a few days was still in middle school when the trade for him happened. George is also no longer a Clipper

Do we know if the next Mario Lemieux is in 7th grade? Should we go ahead and get an extra 1st in 2033?

Honestly, after reading things like this, I’m glad he didn’t just become a Cane. Brady’s talent is undeniable, but this team is built on culture and chemistry as much as skill. After seeing how tight knit and selfless this group is, being a great teammate matters just as much as being a great player.

Another thing to note is while there is still the whole offseason to go, the Atlantic is going to be kinda sad. I think Buffalo and Ottawa are going to take steps backwards, MTL’s kinda blah, and none of the other teams besides Tampa are anything worth writing home about.

Oh I disagree there. I think even after this trade Buffalo and Montreal are the class of the Atlantic, especially Montreal with Dobes. There is no sure thing that Florida is capable of staying healthy enough to stay in the playoff hunt next year, especially with Tampa still being reasonably good and Ottawa possibly having a bit of addition by subtraction with what appears to be a complete headache off the team.

Brady and Matthew on the same team completely changes the entire chemistry there, and it'll be interesting to see how it happens. Because before it was Barkov's team and everyone followed in his footsteps, but now it's absolutely the Tkachuk team. Is everyone going to be following lock step with that clown show? I'm really not so sure, and good luck to Maurice on being able to reign in their constant dumbassery on a nightly basis.

And again, they still have issues on defense and in net, and they don't really have the assets anymore to go get someone like Helle without trading roster players that potentially makes them worse.

I'll be honest. Had we had another ECF exit or lost in 5 in the Final I would have entertained the thought of a Brady trade.

But now? I'm good. Like the player, but I'm good. I'm enjoying watching blockbusters happen from a distance

Maybe he just resented canada so much that he no longer cared?
I mean you cant blame a guy. I am disconnected completely socially with the people I work with too. I HATE Va, and am scracthing and clawing my way out. My boss knows exactly where I am trying to go, and I have another interview this week. He asked me if they offered me the same money here to stay as any offer I get in TN would I?
The answer was a hard no. Zero income tax, I refuse to live in this nutty culture here any longer than I have to, and frankly, why does it take another offer for you to all of a sudden come up with more? I dont even care about the salary itsself. I want OUT. I don't blame brady one bit.

You act like Maurice doesn't encourage it. He does.

Me too. I applied for a GS12 position in South Carolina at the beach. We will see what happens with it.

Buffalo’s probably going to lose Tuch to free agency and based on what happened at the deadline I don’t have faith in them replacing his production while adding. And MTL kinda had a Cinderella run last year. They probably should’ve lost to Tampa. Any team in the Atlantic next year will likely have to get past both Tampa and Florida to reach the conference finals. I don’t see any team in that division doing that.

I do get what you’re saying about Florida in general, but there’s too much talent on that team to completely implode. For me the biggest questions are what are they going to do in net and how well are Barkov and Tkachuk going to play after those serious injuries

Brady in Florida only has 2 possible end games. They run show for 3-4 years or it’s a f***ing tire fire in the room real early.
