Around the League 46: Sharks Finally Yank A Win Out Of Their Cloaca

We would have one very talented star.
An MVP even.
The fact the Slavin has the 4th fastest recorded time this year is a little surprising. I never thought he was slow, as a matter of fact I know he can skate, just didn't know he was that fast.
Had to be that back check a couple of weeks ago where about a dozen of us couldn’t figure out where the hell he even came from.

I'm in process of compiling info on 9 other players beyond Aho, Svetch and PK (7 current and 2 on different squads this year).

Slavin top end speed has consistently been 72 percentile or higher over the last 4 years with speed bursts percentile well above that. NHL EDGE has some great data and worth a deep dive if you have time (lol, which I do)

Is there a way to break down speed backwards v forward? I would bet Slavin's right at the top on speed skating backward.

Embarrassing on multiple accounts.

Embarrassing for that guy, because how the hell do you throw 4 sucker punches and do zero damage? The guy must be a professional pillow fighter with those mitts.

Also embarrassing for Spittin Chiclets to celebrate this guy. Didn’t Biz get jumped not too long ago, and now they’re supporting the guy that’s randomly assaulting people over a regular season hockey game?

No but seriously, Marchand would be an excellent add to a Brindy team

Maybe a bit on the aged side for some folks, but the Canes took similar risks with Brent Burns and the most recent Jordan Staal contract and they have panned out (overall). I'd love to have Marchand on the team for a few seasons. He'd be a great mentor for Jarvis.

Cats outshot Bruins by some ridiculous margin too, 42-17 or something.

If you can't rejoice in watching the Bruins fall apart, you are a cold, dead mf

It's coming but damn I get the feeling we'll get another Bruins vs Leafs matchup in the playoffs 😆

But yeah, Boston is going to have an ugly rebuild. Them failing at the 2015 draft will forever be one of the great failures of all time.

Mid-season report card:

High scoring AND close games is the ideal for the NHL, and harder to accomplish than it sounds. Generally, higher scoring usually results from a bigger spread between the contenders and the cellar dwellers (who get beaten up on, which leads to higher scoring) and in turn means a lot of garbage time stats from meaningless goals. The 1940s and 1980s involved a lot of 8-4 type games.

I’m not sure there has been a period in the league where scoring went way up but the results stayed tight. This is golden-era stuff.
