Eh, gets the extra $2m over 8 years to save some face and be able to claim a win after getting so theatrically outraged over the 64 million comment, but that falls far short of "resetting the goalie market". I think both sides realized that this was ridiculous and just wanted to find a way out. Swayman gets a token amount more so can claim victory, but they're really just settling on the same basic terms the negotiation was frozen at months ago.
Except we don't know:
1) The $64M was Neely's comment and the Agent publicly stated it was the first time they've heard that. I didn't follow it closely to know how that sugared out.
2) What were the terms such as how much was signing bonus, was their trade protections, etc.
Also, as I said, I didn't follow all the ins and outs, but who really said "reseting the goalie market" and how valid was that statement, or was it media making a story? was it the Bruins spreading that through the media? etc..
We fans tend to give ownership the benefit of the doubt almost all the time in these situations. I personally don't think GMs/Owners are as above board as many fans think.
