Who's everyone rooting for in the conference finals? I'm rooting for Tampa Bay (obviously) and Colorado (can't root for a Canadian team, sorry Canadians).

I’ve always respected Tampa and would even root for them casually when the Canes were perennially out of the playoffs. My interest in them has waned with them beating us last year and the cap shenanigans but of the teams remaining I like them the most by far. So easy choice to pull for the three peat at this point.

I don't know where to post this so it goes here. That Seth Jarvis thread in the playoff forum is ridiculous.

I've often noticed when one of our guys gets hit, the main board is all "clean hit, head needs to be up, welcome to real hockey" but when Svech or someone else hits a guy it's "dirty" "suspend him!"

The main boards honestly just aren't that fun anymore. There's way too much "I know better than you" nonsense going on.

They literally resent the fact that the Hurricanes exist, and its overwhelmingly blatant on HFB. Just look at the Habs fans who couldn't want to troll in here on the KK thread yesterday because our season ended.

They hate the fact that we didn't move to a more deserving market in QC. They hate the fact that a billionaire bought us and they hate that we've actually been having some success with 4 straight playoff bids and an arena that is packing in progressively more fans every month.

At the end of the day, if you really dig into what these people are saying when they mouth off in these threads, it always comes down to the fact that Raleigh shouldn't have a team. Always. Problem is, there's a couple mods in those forums who also share those opinions and will shut your shit down real quick if you try and bring those biases to the surface.

That Makar goal last night is causing quite the debate. Based on the NHL official breakdown of the rules it was the correct call to consider that a goal from what I see. I think the possession part is confusing people. They are either thinking the rule about the attacking player entering the zone before the puck but with possession or the “attempt to gain possession” rule on a delayed offsides where the ref will blow the whistle. Neither applies here.

The NHL is a shitshow with zero consistency, not surpised. This is ultimately why they'll be the 5th or 6th most followed professional league in the USA in a decade or so. So it's no surprise they're trying to turn this into WWE like spectacle.

It's bad enough when we have to analyze millimeters of offside from the puck to blue line and skate blades...now we've gotta determine if the stick was TOUCHING the puck too? He was "in possession" when he brought the puck in before his teammate tagged up, which I thought was offside?
