Surprise surprise. The guy who looked better than every single one of our prospects 3 years ago in the Preseason ends up being a Good Player.
He’s a perfect example of a prospect where you just need to believe your own eyes. He always looked good. It’s funny looking back, kid looks so promising and they just send him down and throw him into a trade for a rental soon after.

I really liked Bjugstad for the record it just sucks seeing a guy blossom when he’d fit perfectly on our roster

I’m not
Management should be embarrassed by the handling of their best prospects
Good for Broberg, who I wanted to keep, and Holloway for putting our management into clown suits and having egg on their face at the moment

I mean like when does Oilers management not have egg on their face, lol. This franchise can't hire a competent front office. Team has had some success in spite of that anyway.

Jones 2 GP 0-0-0 -1
Puljujarvi: 5 GP 1-3-4 0
Desharnais 3GP 0-0-0 -1
Yamamoto 1 GP 0-0-0 +1
McLeod 7GP 3-1-4 +4
Kesselring 6GP 1-2-3 +6
Broberg 6GP 1-5-6 +6
Blumel 1GP 0-0-0 0
Holloway 6GP 1-1-2 +2

I personally never thought we should of matched the offer sheets but this doesn’t feel good. Kesselring and Broberg in particular.

Between the organization and the leadership core I do wonder if the vast majority of prospects would do as well here though. Which is another issue entirely.

4 first round picks in there. This is a story of poor draft/development but also the hollowing out of a critically lean prospect pool of precious few bluechip assets. The issue is not necessarily the loss but the return (lack of) garnered for them.

Still at least one significant roster hole at 2RD and more assets will be required to address this longstanding hole. Gonna have to thread the needle on a tough position that carries a premium in this league. Big bet on cap space.
