I was sniffing around the EN stats over the last decade. Just wanted to get an impression of which players in the league are inordinately Empty Net goal sniffers padding their stats. As Expected Rantenen is legend at this scoring OVER 10% of his career goals into empty nets. 29 to be exact. Neither Connor or Drai are high on the list. Expectedly other sniffers like Marchand real high on the list scoring a significant amount of their goals into empty cages.
In fairness to Mackinnon he's not inordinate on the list. Other fart sniffers are of course Ovechkin who has the NHL record for empty net goals, and Aho who never misses a chance at an easy goal.
I'm not huge either on players that go all out to pad their goal counts in this regard. Look at the top ten and you can see some selfish players.

Its interesting on that topten list how many of the leading ENG scorers have so many more goals than assists.
In contrast the consummate gentleman, Draisaitl, who passes off on chances to a fault is among league leaders in ENA but scores very few himself. Only 14. Although he did pot one a couple weeks ago.
In terms of ENP both Leon and McD are notable on the list. Drai pretty much where he ought to be on that list and McD somewhat lower than maybe expected.
But to me its a bit of a sad joke that some shooters have more than 10% of their career goals scored into empty nets. Kinda cheapens their stats if you ask me but they'll take the high pay regardless.
Rantanen, Crosby, Marchand ftr tops in league in empty net pts over last decade with 59, 58, 58 pts. A shitload on empty nets.
Interesting as well that career wise Sidney Crosby has the record for ENP and Ovechkin, surprise surprise the record for ENG. OV has 61. 21 more than the next on the list, the Great one. Kind of put an asterisk on that one.
