It was a shit matchup. No one wants to watch the bubble team Blues vs the broken hawks.

Blackhawks have been in 5 or 6 of these things at this point, and have lost them all. Why anyone thought they'd be a good choice for yet another winter classic feature while in the middle of a scorched earth rebuild is baffling

I think Gary thought they would show off the league's brand new toy, Connor Bedard. He has a habit of doing stuff like that. Trouble is, Bedard as a long ways off from being a star. Being the best player on the Hawks doesn't really count for much.
