Around the League 2025-26 season

He has his warts but I think Mailloux is going to be a good player.

First reaction is I question as to why the Blues make this deal. Bolduc looked really good last season and seem to establish himself as part of the Blues top 9.

Interesting deal nonetheless.

I'm actually fascinated by the Canucks.

They continue to be one of the strangest run teams in the league.

Hey, a team even less competent than the Kings!

At least they got something in return for Chytil and Miller. They arguably cashed out just in time on Lundkvist; They got a late 1st from Dallas but then parlayed that to rent Tarasenko/Mikkola for a single playoff round.

Fortunately they weren't able to trade up for Elias Pettersson in 2017. Allegedly they offered #7 and #21 to get him but Dallas (and presumably Colorado) declined. They duped Arizona/Chayka into giving them that pick for a soon to be declining Derek Stepan.

2018 Draft ended up being pretty rough. Dahlin/Svechnikov/Tkachuk/Hayton/Hughes/Bouchard appear to be the only first rounders still with their franchise today.

Rangers fans reacting to finding out Gavrikov doesnt hit...(ie buyers remorse)

I’m sure he’ll hit more with the Rangers. They were 5th in hits while the Kings were in the middle of the pack at 15th.

Go back to his re-signing thread. Many of us thought it was an awful deal. Blake crapped the bed hard on that one.
And then Holland did a hold my beer and signed Campbell to a 5x5... ooof. Cal had one decent platoon season nothing special before getting that fat contract. Everyone was shocked at the time on here that i recall. I never heard who internally signed off on this - assessed him as worth it.. was it Ranford?

He is the prototype King D..isnt fast, doent hit, not much of a puck mover, no shot.. but a great stick and cover guy. That is all he is.. So glad we didnt blow a wad on him.. bullet dodge - then KH blows it on Doomaliln and Ceci.

That's the kind of thing that infuriates me re: contracts

It's not paying a top of the lineup guy an extra 1-2 million that hurts you

It's tossing term and 1-2 million at the BOTTOM of the lineup that hurts you

IE signing Gavrikov even for 1-2 more would have been fine, but you run out of cap space paying SEVERAL bottom-four guys 3-5m.
