Around the League 2024-25 season

Both Bob and Nick on the call. Next season, we’ll need to adjust to a completely new voice. I imagine Fox probably won’t last much longer as the color guy as well and will probably retire in the upcoming years. When that day comes, I pray that he is not replaced by Derek Armstrong.

I've enjoyed Josh Schaefer's calls. He has big shoes to fill with Miller and Nickson in particular (I didn't mind Faust either but I know many disliked him).

I'm wondering if Stoll would move to being the color guy.

I don’t know how well previous players will do as color guys right off the bat. I’d rather have someone with some experience. I think Stoll is fine with in his limited role.

I was at the game. Kings were down 4-0 going into the 3rd. They tied the game and went up 5-4. Dallas tied the game and the Kings won in OT Kopitar goal.

This is one of my earliest and one of my favorite memories as a Kings fan. It felt like every time we were playing Dallas in that like 2-3 years span we're just weird games with weird score lines like this one.

You know you could have agreed with me. Like the Kings, you were right there :sarcasm:

I was thinking either Stoll or Nate Thompson, who has been doing some color on the radio side.
I had assumed Thompson was getting a quiet audition when he was in the booth a couple of weeks ago.

I think we will be in good hands. Schaefer is easy to listen to, he has a pleasant rhythm to his calls. Polar opposite to Faust - he had issues matching his tone to the pace and importance of the events of the game.

I really like Shaefer. We haven't been able to see much of his personality yet, but technically he's very good, and his cadence is pleasing enough.

Speaking of former members of the broadcast team

My understanding is that Derek lives in Colorado. I doubt he would move back in order to be a full time color commentator but this is speculation on my part.

Forget which recent game had Thompson as the 3rd part of the broadcast team, but he was pretty rough. Seemed like he had potential though.
He's been the color commentator with Josh on the radio broadcast more than a few times in the past few months.

This year's playoffs will be completely unpredictable. Beyond the top 4 teams, there's an absolute pile up of very good teams that have a strong chance of winning any matchup. There are 11 teams that have a realistic chance of going deep in the playoffs, plus the Blues, who are hot right now.
