Kingston Frontenacs 2024 25 Season Thread Part Iii

the ntdp did not invite him to their camp. hes decent but no where near ohl ready. have you watched him?
If he played a year 4th line OHL mins or the OJHL would he be OHL ready? Fronts going to be rebuilding so they don’t have a whole ton to lose. Guy put up the points on his team there may be a little potential, no?

sure he has potential but hes an 8th round pick why force it? i would think you have better players for next year in the system already.

Who would you take (as of today) from what you have seen? Obviously stuff can change but interested about who you think is worth keeping an eye on.

no idea but if the kid isnt ready dont force it. just get a free agent to come in.

You agree with the robar guy being on team?

personally i dont, hes not at that level. he works hard and will be a perfect 3rd line c in a few years, but you want him to get a bit of offensive success at jr a. he would not have come close to making the fronts this year.

Cause our best defenceman left game 7? I don’t know but maybe that’s a reasonable thing to mention. Regardless it’s over so I don’t know why you guys keep mentioning me.
he left game 7 when you were already losing and being badly outplayed. The scoreboard may have said different but game 7 was not a particularly close game.

we were up 3-2 then took a bunch of penalties shooting ourselves in the foot. Our best d man goes out after McGowan who was playing like a great #2 went down. You’re telling me those guys in a game 7 wouldn’t make a difference??

I don’t know what point you’re trying to make man I already told you it’s over you don’t need to keep it going. What I’m saying is purely factual. Im over it. Congrats to the colts. What more do I need to say?

well you keep saying "those guys" burns played the whole series. sure, you lost mcgowan. first it is the refs then it is the injuries then it's something else. I watched 4 of the games in this series live and kingston wasn't the better team in any of them. it is certainly not factual to say having mcgowan changes the outcome of the series. most would disagree. The excuses are too much, it wasn't the refs nor was it the missing D man. Barrie is a better team simple as.

“Those guys in a game 7” maybe they don’t teach you how to read in barrie.

Well aware burns played all of the rest of the series. He didn’t play all of game 7. And when he took the penalty we were either up 1 or tied. Losing your best d man after already losing your #2 or #3 would hurt a team no?? Imagine colts without aitcheson or Bertucci.

As I said. It’s over with. Have a good day.

The game wasn't close dude. your spending your time being a superfan and lashing out on here instead of looking at the game with an unbiased opinion.

Good troll. 6-4 with an empty netter that was scored with 13 seconds left isn’t close?

Get over it buddy. Was closer than you thought it would be even without McGowan the whole series and burns for half of game 7. Injuries/suspensions part of the game not sure what you’re trying to prove. I said congrats to Barrie.

and again I don't know how many times I have to tell you i am not a barrie fan. just a spectator with a dose of reality. hillebrandt didn't make one good save in game 7, he didnt need to. shots were nearly a 2-1 margin and run of play was even worse. but you blaming the loss on the refs or a player leaving is just ridiculous.

Alright this has gone on too long. You win. I’m done wasting my time replying to the same thing that’s been going on for days. Not worth it. Losing braincells interacting with you.

Hopefully you’re right! Imagine we got Wakely like we were supposed to.

Any idea why Hopkins was taken off and replaced with Willis when for most of the year Hopkins was PP1?

If I had 1 question that may be the biggest one. Powerplay was not the same with Willis on it.
"Like we were supposed to"
You know that a player and his agent control the cards when a trade is proposed? The Fronts GM is still very new at this and doesn't have pedigree, plus players talk to each other about what it's like in terms of culture & environment before making a big change - that is why the trade didn't materialize.

I just looked and if #91 was on PP1 most of the year and only had 13 points, that's why he wasn't on PP1 in the playoffs.
Also look at it from a coaching perspective, Mann probably told GM to go out and get Willis as he fits his type of player profile. #14 HAS TO PRODUCE, otherwise it looks like a terrible acquisition.

As a reminder, we traded Ethan Weir who was a 2nd rd 42 overall + 2 2nds, 3 3rds, 4, 5, 7 for a 20 game rental in the regular season plus playoffs.

you know exactly what I mean. No need to get smart.

What’s more important, team success or an individual player? You’re missing the whole point. The powerplay was WAY better with Hopkins on it regardless of if he lit it up on there at all. Chemistry is important.

Willis is the better player but was never that guy for the fronts that they were hoping for. At some point you have to move past it and just admit as the coach or gm that it’s not working and it shouldn’t have taken that long to do so. Why couldn’t they just stick him PP2 with Miedema and company

Draft picks were a lot but Weir just didn't pan out. Even on the Saginaw boards they are saying it may be tough for him to make the team next year.

I was going to say the same thing. When the trade happened it was a year and a half out from the draft - where he was picked is no longer relevant in terms of trade value, it's just how he is as a player and unfortunately he's a borderline OHLer. A little reminiscent of Mitchell Brooks.

In the same vein, we can absolutely criticize the pick - I seem to remember everyone thinking it was a great pick because he was often mentioned as a borderline 1st rounder, but when a bunch of teams have passed on a player once or twice like that, there's often a reason.

I'm not missing the point at all.
I'm in complete agreeance with you regarding team first success, instead of playing coaches favourites and repeatedly forcing something that isn't working.

Coach Mann's ego and unwillingness to make the necessary changes is why the Fronts aren't playing Oshawa tomorrow night.

Sorry my bad for misunderstanding you. Been getting grilled on here lately for anything I say lol.
Pretty bad they did better with gage Heyes than Joey Willis on the powerplay. Also Heyes outplayed Willis the whole playoffs

Sounds like goalies not counting towards the OA limit is picking up steam, which, assuming it goes through, makes me feel more and more confident that the tandem next year will be Vaccari and Betts, likely with Paddock as 3rd string?
