Good for McLellan. I got frustrated with his decisions, but I'm still unsure how much of it was him versus a directive from Blake/Robitaille of just trying to make the playoffs. I generally liked his points when talking about coaching, and how things have changed since he became an assistant.

Without the expectations of making the playoffs and with some young players to guide, it should be a good situation for him.
dont feel sorry for him while he counts his 5.5 million sitting on his ass.. him not playing kids is his MO has been everywhere he went.

Big ass OOF. They were in a hurry to lock down Blackwood for 5 years just in case someone else wanted another bum on their roster

Maybe their pro scouting department isnt bottom tier like LAK.. agree it seems like a lot for a guy thats had 1 good season and only broke 40 games twice.

I'm a big Blackwood truther but that makes even me sweat, why the rush to commit? Premature no?

I mean even if I believe in his abilities goalies are weird and have to 'fit'

I think if (and when) Blackwood and the Avs go on a tear in the second half of the season, his number goes up, and it’s more likely he goes UFA.

The salary cap is about to explode, it’s probably a pretty reasonable deal.

Yeah I"m less fretting about the dollars and more the term

if it works it's a steal

If it doesn't...I guess it's manageable with an increasing cap, but as we know goalies can't be hidden like skaters

In any given season there are between 3 and 8 goalies that actually matter... the rest of them are just guys.

The problem is there's no reliable way of knowing which 3-8 its gonna be that year.

Theres always a couple or a few that are on the list every year but it's rare that those guys are good enough to elevate a team by themselves. Look at Shesterkin and the Rangers this season.

I'd much rather have a rotating cast of "guys that can do the job as long as you support them" while you wait for your guy that matters.

The one time where Jesse actually stakes a position and it’s actually a good one. You definitely can easily do more than enough with a cast of average goalies vs a real solid goalie. The gap is a lot smaller than people think

Send some tape of Celebrini to our young guys. Kid is 18 and his motor is even better than Lizottes.. I watch the Sharts just to watch him play.

This fool special. We're gonna be dealing with him for the next decade. So many highly touted forward prospects have been underwhelming in recent years, but he's the real deal.

It's always amazing when an 18 year old kid can come into the league and be good right away. When I was 18 I was a total loser.

He hits too. Took a nice shot at Hague and Hague turned around and was shocked it was the kid. I get MacKinnon vibes from him.. but even better with his stick.. catching pucks out of mid air and doing things like handling passes that are way behidn him and tipping through his skates to the front. He is best #1 since McDavid I would say.

A lot of times I go to say something and discover that it's already been said.

@Raccoon Jesus made an observation just the other day that I would have volunteered but why would I risk it when the talking point was already brought up by someone else.

Don’t mind Sol, he thinks you lack integrity if you don’t talk shit on the people who sign your checks.

He is the type of player you HAVE to come out of a rebuild with.

They ended up with a (likely) superstar 1C, and (likely) a championship caliber 2C in back to back drafts. And they will be picking high again this year, and there are a couple of guys who will really compliment Celebrini.

McDavid is such a good player. Its unbelievable just how many tiers above everyone else he is. There's no one close to him.

Unbelievable skill, speed, hands, and IQ. Never seen anything like him.
