Feels like Washington is really starting to crush things.
They have been possibly the best story in the league so far this season.
They got Leonard at #8 in the draft and he should be a quality player.
They also took Cole Hutson and I was very impressed with him in last nights game.
They also drafted that Latvian kid who's had a few big plays this tourny and Cristal who's lighting up the WHL.

Has something happened there like a chance in management or ownership?

Seems like more than just Carbery.

Brian MacLellan's Resume looks pretty good.

Patrick is a new GM but the previous GM (McClellan moved up to President). This was on July 8th, so not a huge change there.

Carbery's been an excellent hire as coach, really done a great job. Shame the Leafs lost him.

Their drafting/developing has really seemed to have done well .. Protas and McMichael making big impacts with the big club and now they have a good cupboard too

Additionally their big off-season is paying off .. Chychrun appears to be doing well, as is Roy. PLD hasn't scored many goals but is getting on the scoresheet with assists.

It makes me think that a quick retool on the fly is possible if you hit on a coach/a few trades/signings and have 1-2 good drafts in a row.

They might have the deepest team in the league.

They paid for Chychrun.

He is playing most even strength time on ice.

Leading in goals and points for the team defense, even with less gams played.

...

They didn't nickel and dime it.

Yes he is playing well.
I looked at his stats the other day and couldn't believe his goal totals.
He is a very polarizing player, as many question his ability to consistently defend.

They also have Leonard and Huton coming soon and Protas' brother looks like a monster too.

I tihnk a deep breath is needed when it comes to Washington. No question an incredible season so far, but it is less than half a season. They aren't too far removed from being easily swept out of the first round by the Rangers. But two things are clear to me: Carbery must be an excellent coach, and it's a nice redemption story for Logan Thompson.

The Caps revamped their D by adding two top 4 guys and then a few solid depth pieces up front. Their young guys have also taken a massive step. Unlike last year, this is not a fluke. No one in the Metro should scare them, but we'll see how they match up against an Atlantic team should it happen

The Kings are also having a great season, but seems like they'll just be first round fodder again.

The last defenseman to win the Hart was Bobby Orr.

Hughes is making a pretty good case for himself this year. If he drags his team into the playoffs he should be a serious candidate. I have a hard time believing anyone else has such an impact on their team's results as he has.

Watching the fights last night and a hockey game broke out between Vancouver and Calgary.

Huberdeau is apparently a good player again. Still not worth what he's getting paid. Neither am I but I'm not making millions of dollars.

You pay minimum wage you should only expect minimum work.

I think the Leafs should be looking at the Rangers as a trading partner. Plenty of good pieces there liable to be available this deadline. Treliving should be calling Drury up looking to take advantage of a desperate and stupid GM.

I'm sick of seeing the reverse happen.

Crazy how good he got the difference between him and rielly is he’s hit a next gear in season with another gear for playoffs good on him

Those are some eye popping stats.

Makar has more points. It's pretty darn close though. I can see Hughes winning both the Norris and the Hart if he keeps it up.

I think Vancouver would have to make the playoffs for that to happen to happen though.

Wonder if he'll be back for the playoffs, or if he's done?

I'd say he's done.

So today this is posted.

Colorado Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog took part in the team's morning skate Thursday, signalling a step forward after a setback in November.

Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar reiterated afterwards that Landeskog remains without a timeline for return, but there is continued optimism he will return at some point.

"I think he's feeling good. Yeah. I think he's feeling really comfortable with what he's doing in his rehab process right now and starting to look better and better on the ice," Bednar told reporters. "So, still no real change in our approach and what's going on. He's just going to keep grinding forward until he gets to a point where he might be able to join the team on a regular basis."
