We should have given Carberry the keys after Babcock. Had similar results in the AHL to Keefe and was already an NHL assistant.

Man I really could care less about this thing ... I mean they took the worst parts of other international events and put them together:
- A mid-season tournament, disrupting the NHL schedule
- An international tournament with only 4 nations, not even giving all NHLers a chance to play
I get not doing the ASG this year because players seem to enjoy the break and the game is a gimmick. But you've set up an even more meaningless event involving more NHL players over a longer period
The Olympics is a tough long break but an Olympic medal's prestige helps justify it.

NHL 4 Nations Face-Off: A Landmark International Tournament Announced
The NHL 4 Nations Face-Off is set to transform international hockey competitions, bringing together the best talent from Canada, Finland, Sweden, and the United States. Announced at the 2024 NHL All-Star Game on February 2, 2024, by NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman, this prestigious event will be hosted in two iconic locations: Montreal's Bell Centre and Boston's TD Garden. The announcement, made alongside NHLPA Executive Director Marty Walsh, featured prominent NHL stars Connor McDavid, Sebastian Aho, Elias Pettersson, and Auston Matthews, who will be key players in this thrilling tournament that will replace the 2025 NHL All-Star Game.
Key Details of the NHL 4 Nations Face-Off
Event Overview:
• Event Name: NHL 4 Nations Face-Off
• Participating Teams: Canada, Finland, Sweden, United States
• Event Date: 2025
• Format: Round-robin tournament followed by a one-game final
Team Composition:
• Each team will consist of 23 NHL players (20 skaters, 3 goalies).
• Players must be under an NHL contract for the 2024-25 season and on an NHL roster as of December 2, 2024.
• National associations (Hockey Canada, Finnish Ice Hockey Association, Swedish Ice Hockey Association, USA Hockey) will select the players.
Tournament Structure:
• Round-Robin: Each team plays three games.
• Points System:
- 3 points for a win in regulation
- 2 points for a win in overtime or shootout
- 1 point for a loss in overtime or shootout
- 0 points for a loss in regulation
• Final: The top two teams will compete in a one-game final.
Game Rules:
• All games will follow NHL rules and be played on NHL-sized rinks.
• Overtime Rules:
- Round-Robin: 3-on-3 sudden death for 10 minutes, followed by a three-round shootout if needed.
- Final: 5-on-5 sudden death in 20-minute periods until a goal is scored.
Future International Hockey Plans
In addition to the NHL 4 Nations Face-Off, Bettman confirmed NHL players' participation in the 2026 and 2030 Winter Olympics, marking their return after missing the 2018 and 2022 games. Furthermore, the league plans to host the next World Cups of Hockey in 2028 and 2032, continuing the tradition from the last edition held in 2016.

That ceremony took for ever, rare moment that i'm cheering for the habs win in regulation time. I really like the idea of boston missing the playoffs
The Habs are atrocious!! Jeez. I haven’t seen much of them this year but wow that was shocking. I can’t believe Slaf is going to be making over 7 million a year starting next season. The way Habs fans talk about him and Hutson you’d think they were getting close… they look like they’re just starting the rebuild. They are realllyyyyy bad

To no one's surprise, Montreal, Ottawa and Buffalo are all awful yet again. They are all years away from even being decent. Ottawa and Buffalo will need to restart their rebuilds...again.

Imo and even the Habs are only a few years behind starting from square one yet agaib - like Detroit they have managed to collect a group of good but not elite prospects.

I could probably be okay with that, although I don’t think Hunt is as high pedigree as Danford. It’s a unique opportunity to put a high pedigree 6’4” RHD into the program. Might not work out but these chances don’t come along all the time.
